It’s a good point that we shouldn’t passively describe them as outsiders. The problem about that is the original post is criticizing that society sees women as aggressive rather than assertive for the same behavior. The comment you have a problem with is not condoning that point of view. It’s pointing out that the problem goes beyond gender and happens to those seen as ‘outsiders’.

Are there alternatives besides Cloudflare’s solution?

The work windows did to make early windows intuitive really paid off. I was able to figure a lot out as a kid so I could play snake and minesweeper etc. Leaning into that will onboard new users, and that’s why mint is so successful

Forgejo seems pretty good, I’ll move my stuff there too

I’m a noob, and Mint fully works. I had only the smallest of learning humps before I was set. Mint reminds me of Window’s glory days, and it makes me happy 😊

It’s a corporate problem. Fucking Balatro was a smash hit for design, art, etc. These ‘next gen’ games are pushed because bigger numbers are absolute, and quantifiable. A CEO likes number go up, but real artists don’t push polygons.

This whole thing is concerning. Are there other real alternatives to FF or Chromium?

Then the old maintainers retire and die, and so does their precious baby that was ‘open source’ but not really, stranding it all in an old distro. But hey, who cares how shitty the world is after you die amirite?

Yeah, this is a terrifying response that chases away young talent. I saw a comment mentioning how the mature devs are cut out and don’t have the chance to help pull up the new dev/give them training and wisdom.

If the older maintainers don’t have time for new devs without all the experience they gained over a lifetime, then FOSS is in for a crash.

True, we perpetuate the unjust systems around us. Systems can be constructed to unfairly benefit some over others as well, like how capitalism unfairly benefits the wealthy.
