Timeshift for backups is a godsend in these situations
I would advise using Obtanium to get the apps directly from their source, ex: gitlab, instead of using F-Droid.
Use it for caching more stuff to make your system even faster, virtualization and most importantly, browsers
If you go sleep in the right time, your internal timer will theoretically be enough to know what time of day you are.

Linux Mint is very easy with GUI’s for everything you need and the UI is pretty similar out of the box. Try it out on a live usb before making the switch.

I dont’t think that you can forward ports other than 80 with free cloudflare tunnels.
Use playit.gg instead of forwarding the port. You don’t need an account and it will provide you with a link that you can provide to your friends. Its very easy to set-up, just follow the following commands in the terminal and follow the on screen instructions.
