I think Man of Steel is a better movie than it gets credit for, but the trailer is legit great.

Go to one of his shows, you’ll find a whole lot of messaging about solidarity, mutual aid, building better world, fuck the police, etc. His lyrics aren’t always about politics but they have an anti authoritarian edge.

Mount Eerie is a noisy folk band that dabbles in some punk aesthetic – their most recent albums contains themes of decolonization and anti-war.
Honningbarna just came out with an amazing record called Soft Spot that has some leftist political themes, but not as overt as the others. Amazing sound though. Maybe more Hardcore than punk.
There is no centralized counter culture because the media landscape is so different now. There’s no radio to all listen to together. Communities are pretty isolated online. There are advantages and disadvantages. At the very least, decentralization of the counter culture prevents it from ever being squashed completely. On the other hand, decentralization makes it harder for people to see, and cause them to lose hope and feel alone. But as another said, you’re here, aren’t you?
Thanks! Yeah, me too Re: the endless rabbit hole of editing. For one thing, I very much hate the editing process! I too want things to look natural, but I’ve been watching the “Darktable Landscapes” Youtube channel and I’m amazed at what he’s able to do with some of his rawfiles, especially his use of masks.
Usually I just stick with the OOC jpegs because I find them good enough, but in this particular shot I’m using a long lens and teleconverter, and since the subject is so far away there’s a bit of haze and not a ton ton of detail. So i figureed it’d be a good candidate to practice editing and see if I can make a better image than the OOC jpeg… but I’ve been feeling like I just can’t! When I zoom in to bricks of the church in the OOC images, they seem a lot cleaner and sharper than my edited raw files, and I’m having trouble sharpening in darktable without making the image look twice baked.
I haven’t tried rawtherapee yet but I’ve heard its a bit less cumbersome than Darktable – I think I’ll try that and see how it does. Thanks again!

There are a lot of language learning resources on the site i use. I did a whole Michel Thomas advanced audio course for portuguese that helped me learn the basics. What’s the title of the french book your friend is looking for?
I really don’t think it is. For one thing, there’s texted added to it that certainly wasn’t part of the original. Then there’s the matter of multiple versions of a similar line-drawing with text in the center floating around. And then finally, no mainstream media has released the image. It seems like someone just mocked this up and posted it on twitter.

Honestly, I thought it was pretty underwhelming. I kinda grew out of superhero movies and star wars and such, but I get the itch every once in a while, when something good comes out. Andor did it for Star Wars, X-Men '97 did it for superheroes. Just solid writing and relevant to the modern day.
But idk, Superman just felt like another superhero movie to me. Didn’t really do anything special. Kinda bummed about it. Glad I didn’t pay to see it honestly

Thank you for the recs. Part of the reason I wasn’t more specific is because, in terms of retro games, I have no idea of what I like since I haven’t really played any. Another part is that I want to know what you, the people, think holds up in 2025. And another part, I’m trying to keep my taste open – my first exposure to video games was GameBoy games, then Halo on PC, then having an Xbox 360 and playing popular action-y games. Later I’d find a taste for action RPGs (after much picking up and putting down), and only in the last few years have I expanded that to more…traditional? slower, I guess…RPGs like BG3 and Disco Elysium…expanding to puzzle games, sidescrollers, bullethells. I know they’re a lot different but I guess my point is, at one point, I found it hard to get into them, but over time I was able to figure them out and have fun. Still have never played a JRPG, so that’s on the horizon for me. I enjoy when things “click” in my brain, and if it takes a long time, that’s okay.

I have 2k+ hours in Rocket League since its the only game I can play while focusing on an audiobook or podcast or album.
Sounds pretentious because it is, but I like “heady” stuff, in games-terms I think that translates to things that expand my conception of what a game is and what it can do, or something that challenges me in a new way. But yeah, that’s a long winded explanation of why I wasn’t more specific regarding my taste.

I have Dredge already, and I had bought Animal Well for $18 last night. That left Inscryption as the final game in the bundle. Steam dynamically prices games in the bundle and since I already had two games, I saw the bundle as $7 and got confused.
I literally just refunded animal well, waited for the refund confirmation, went to rebuy animal well in the bundle, and saw the bundle was now priced at $24 (because I still already have Dredge).
Sorry I got your hopes up :(

I hear you, but weirdly enough I feel the opposite! I do get that the hope and optimism part was severely lacking in MoS, and it’s more present in Gunn’s new movie. But I kinda think of Superman as the wooden goodie-two-shoes of the JLU animated series, and to me Henry Cavill did that better than David Corenswet did. I feel like the Superman from Gunn’s movie is kinda underpowered and a little too “normal quirky funny nerd guy” rather than the straight-edge force of nature I feel like JLU Superman is. I feel like MoS almost got that, but then injected a bunch of sadness and desaturation which brought it down a bit
