  • None taken whatsoever. I grew up christian in Turkey, there were a lot of missionaries with the mindset “to the converts first” (remember that to them “pro-west” is a necessary condition that doesn’t even warrant being mentioned). I don’t think anybody had any illusions what to expect of their “help”. Thankfully this wasn’t that big an issue during the 1999 Earthquake (as far as I’m aware), but the demolished churches did help with fundraising from churches in europe I have to admit. There’s another whole thing to be said about missionaries going to Occupied Palestine with “to the jews first”, so much to unpack it’s like evil christmas.

    I am fully aware of why people would be apprehensive of christians from the imperial core, especially white christians from the imperial core. It’s a reputation that is more than well earned and the reason I can’t find a church I would like to be a part of.
