Lemmy/Fediverse comment sections are pretty bad about making up personality traits/stereotyping people who do things they disagree with. This thread is wild.

Oh yeah, the sort here kind of sucks. Also just using the site, you lose your place/sort if you click into a link or the comments. Like, if I’m on page 2 of Top 6 Hours, click a link, and then click back into the scroll… pretty sure I just see the first page of Active again until I either refresh or change pages.

It would have to be a really wild scenario where humans get stuck permanently in the iron age again. While they are fun thought experiments, I just can’t see to many ways that humans survive but our technology and books disappear from existence.

I think that is an extremely unlikely scenario. Do you think modern technology is just going to disappear?

Seems like I hear about Russia/Ukraine about the same…sounds like those ATACMS missiles(idk what they are though) were pretty effective and important. It’s on most front pages.

And in cases like these, I don’t think public opinion is that important? Imagine Japan being like, “yeah, China is doing stuff we disagree with in disputed territory, but people are really focused on Israel/Palestine and Russia/Ukraine… let’s just leave China alone out there, public’s not paying attention anyway.”

I hear that theory a lot(for different situations), but I imagine most governments can multitask.

I would probably try to find an exit to the conversation if you hit me with either of the rock/tree or Israel/Palestine conversation if I’m being honest.

I imagine you could come up with something relatively easy to put on the walls/ceilings to block signals if you really felt like it.

Making it look like a sane person’s house might be a little more difficult though

The reason I’m an Osprey fan is because of the lifetime warranty for any reason, which impressively I’ve never had to use. And I abuse my gear outdoors.

But I’d imagine if you are doing tech carrying over everything else, you want something more specialized/padded. I try to find lighter gear.

I’m wondering if they are talking that brand that you get from like Walmart/target.
