ConsciousFish6170: Idk why my description didn’t post. I put a raspberry pi 2 w inside a mostly gutted ps4 controller that wasn’t working anymore. Wanted to make the controller still look functional so I left the joy sticks but removed what I could to fit the pi. I have retro pi on it running nes, snes, ps1, gba, and n64 but n64 doesn’t seem to run great. I have two usb c mini adapters for the power supply and a USB hub. I was able to upload roms on a micro SD and put that into the USB hub to put roms on. I have only ever seen USB sticks and tried the micro SD because it was all I had. This is my first attempt at using raspberry pi and any kind of emulators.

I agree, 100%. I never posted on other social media platforms until trying Lemmy, Mastodon, or Firefish. I find the fediverse is a really pleasant experience as long as the instance moderates can keep up with the spam, trolls, and other unwanted content. I think it’s because it’s not trying to commercialize the platforms that makes it more interesting and pleasant, at least for me.

Since all of the Reddit changes happened I took the time to try and back away from social media as I had a sort of addiction and probably still do. Now I consume much of my social media in the form of RSS feeds, even took the time to add all of my YouTube subscriptions to a RSS feed reader and unsubscribed from channels that I felt were too clickbaity, don’t get me wrong there are a few I still follow.

There are also some of us that are/were trying and experimenting with different types of the fediverse, such as Lemmy, Kbin, Mastodon, Firefish, Pixelfed, etc. I have found myself gravitating toward Firefish, and Mastodon for the feed style, where as Lemmy, and Kbin are better as a forum or Pixelfed for image feeds.

I live on the more unstable side, I like Debian Unstable/Sid. I also recommend Siduction as it’s based on Debian Unstable.

I hadn’t thought of that, I played Euro Truck for a little bit, it’s been a few years now, all the new expansions and areas, and I see there’s American Truck too. Thanks for reminding me!

I was suggested to look at ProtonDB, and it looks like all my games will work fine. I will be giving it all a test in the coming days.

That looks quite interesting, I will take a look at it further. It might just scratch my itch enough.

I just want a vehicle game that is open world, with roads and trails, the vehicles don’t have to be licensed. I just want to travel and explore, basically a road trip simulator. The Crew, Forza Horizon, and NFS Heat/Unbound are the closest I can get, I don’t care for the density, just distance. This is why I know that it will never be a reality, because without having mechanics, would make the game boring to many.

Basically a remake or continuation of Fuel (2009), I really enjoyed the vastness of the world, it wasn’t anything really special, but to me I had so much fun exploring and seeing the distance of the massive world(5,560 square miles/14,400 square kilometers). The many regions around the map were diverse and there was 16 player multiplayer where others just popped in and out as you moved around, I didn’t really care for it much, but it was fun for group road trips or adventures.

I’m actually quite excited hearing from everyone, gaming on Linux has changed so much in…oh it’s been 8 years since 2015. I will probably keep one small drive for a minimal Windows installation, just for the few outliers, however looking at ProtonDB shows that most of my games will work just fine or with a small tweak.

I do have AMD, so that’s nice that it will be a better experience. Recently AAA games have been very underwhelming, so I have been cutting back on new AAAs until later and when on sale. I play Guild Wars 2 (MMO) quite often, but I hear that it will play fine as it doesn’t have any anticheat. I am not into any competitive shooters, so I will be find on that front. Looking at the games on ProtonDB show that this will be a smooth experience, and I’ll be fine with some games not working or performing below average.

Thank you for the experience that you had. That’s why I will use my spare drive to test it, this will allow me to experiment with it and see how it performs.

I like your idea of making a list. If all goes well I might just move over, and keep Windows on a small disk for any outliers.
