Cars are unique, get one that was properly maintained. You will hear a lot of “avoid germans, get a toyota” but I had 0 problems with my previous vw and audi, while my family and friends all had japanese cars and spent ridiculous amounts fixing them. A car’s history matters the most. Oh and stay the hell away from anything french.

Sounds familiar. I have tried it with many distros and it just isn’t usable. Gave up and ended up liking cinnamon more anyway.

To me it seems like it’s THE best option to play ps2 games. Can run them at a bigger resolution and saving states can be used as a little cheat

I live in one of the coldest places and most of us don’t have air conditioners, but in recent years summers have been uncomfortably warm. I got myself a cheap portable AC and I keep one room cool, it only uses 400W so it barely affects the electric bill. Wet underwear and ice cream help too. I have a small fan with a battery when I need to be in the kitchen.

I remember getting detention on first grade for telling my classmate that a whale had beached here in finland. It happened, it was on the news. Same thing again after I told my classmate about some asteroid that is going to kill us all. On 6th grade the whole class was given detention for not having music books with us because the teachers had decided to change the schedule that morning.

Nothing about it seems alpa to me, but it’s down quite often because youtube is fighting against it. I use pipepipe as a backup.

Go to software sources and change both to something that gets good speed. The servers go down every now and then, probably for maintenance.

Two. The first time I had nvidia related issues with nobara, so I removed nvidia drivers for reinstallation… And couldn’t figure out how to get them back. The second time I had used mint for long enough that I felt confident enough to nuke windows partition. I used gparted and nuked the whole disk instead.

Not counting the times I tried fedora and it killed itself with the first updates and then with multimedia codecs.

The os itself doesn’t require a whole lot of learning, if you stick to something user friendly like mint cinnamon. Key differences are how you install programs and drivers. File structure is very different. After two years of daily driving mint cinnamon, I find it more difficult to do basic stuff in windows, especially 11. If it feels intimidating, the recommended approach is to try it out on another pc, dualboot, or use it in a virtual machine.

I had to copy everything to an external drive and change HDD to ext4, then copied back. Nothing corrupted since.

It’s fine. I used to dual boot the two too, and I use a bigger secondary HDD. It’s linux that has the issue if the drive is in NTFS format, I used to get files and folders corrupted all the time and only windows could access and delete them. Not a problem with ext4, but windows can’t read that. Dual booting is not a great long-term plan because it’s updates are known to delete grub, or that’s what I’ve learned from other lemmy users.

Indeed. That was back when I used windows, and I found it quarantined in defender. No idea what kind of spyware I got from it, but I wasn’t hacked and I didn’t lose my moneys.
