It sucks they do it to families like this - as they are actual refugees. It’s bizarre they let the young men in who just turn up, but then are blocking women and children.

Germany, progressive? Have you ever lived there? I’m amazed they even use web browsers enough to notice now, compared to their fax machines.
I’d learn Mandarin but it’s very hard.
I learnt Spanish and use it every day, it is easy.

Tears of the Kingdom is one of the best games ever made, shame they keep it exclusive though.

Yeah, the Pi moving to full computer thing is weird because the SD card is still a massive bottleneck on normal day-to-day usage.

Will you use a separate flight controller chip or try to do it all on board?

It’s been a while but I remember Orange Pi having terrible support? I haven’t heard of the others.
Whereas the RPi has the amazing compute module if you need it too.
Sometimes paying more is better.

Discord. I mostly post in an Ultima 7 modding community and helped out a bit but we also just talk about video games and stuff.
It’s hard to find the smaller servers where you can actually have a decent discussion though, just like IRC back in the day.

What are the better options?
Pis have great software support so for GPIO experimentation it’s so useful.

Ocarina of Time - it was mindblowing to have the open world at the time (I didn’t play Ultima 7 until much later) and the music is incredible.

Rainbow Six Vegas and Splinter Cell Blacklist and Chaos Theory were awesome for this - especially for 2 people.
If you have 4 then SWAT 4, Ready Or Not, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, ARMA 3.

Hard disagree, it lets me achieve more and avoid procrastination. It can help you not get caught up on small errors, and be like a junior colleague given you complete attention when you ask for different proposals, etc.

Slay The Spire - finally beat the heart.

I used to be an active socialist, but it felt quite hopeless when protests are ignored and democracy scarcely exists (you just vote for the least bad option once every 5 years). Now I moved countries and can’t even vote so am much more apolitical. I also didn’t like the shift of those groups into identity politics, and often focussing on treating symptoms rather than the cause - e.g. the push in many places to decriminalise theft under ~$300 instead of actually ensuring people have jobs and opportunities, or unfair rent control rather than building more housing and dealing with the distribution of employment.
But in general I just want a functional, meritocratic society with easy opportunities for education, wide use of technology and as little bureaucracy as possible. No monarchy or religion, etc.
I also think there should be much stricter punishments for violent crime, and better use of technology to investigate it. Ideally everywhere would be like Singapore with almost no crime due to excellent enforcement, and also good provision of education, housing, etc. to make it less attractive overall.
The Witcher 3 (mainly the DLCs), the story was so good, like it’s the only game I can remember where I was waiting to play it every weekend just for the story.
Ocarina of Time - the music is so amazing, I can still remember all of it.
Runescape Classic (like 2002) for making me impervious to scams - you get scammed by some players once and that sticks with you.

Terraria - I just don’t understand what you’re meant to do or why it’s interesting.
I actually really like TOTK though, it’s a big improvement over BOTW with a slightly more alive world and the vehicle creation stuff is fun.
Seems the Lemmy servers are getting hammered right now with the thousands of new users.
It was nice to finally have free time with a lot of sun this weekend. Spent all Saturday drinking Pimm’s on the roof terrace with a friend of a friend. Then most of Sunday playing Zelda TOTK.

Yeah, I got banned from loads of random subreddits for posting in /r/LockdownSkepticism just supporting the policy of where I live (in Sweden). It was bizarre.
Likewise if you dared oppose the US-specific policy of forcing toddlers to wear face-masks. Wasn’t a thing anywhere in Europe, but you’d get banned for misinformation on Reddit.
Sweden is completely different to the USA though, as the salaries are a different order of magnitude.
Like programming is barely a high-status career in Europe - you’re better off being an estate agent, lawyer or senior civil servant.
