    I mean it’s very clear the issue here is Vladdy just proposed they stop attacking energy infrastructure yesterday. The things Ukraine did were actually prior to yesterday, and therefore no agreement existed at the time, hence the outrage.

    Cease fires don’t usually include a “but I get to bop you one more time before we honor our agreement” clause.

    I’ve always hated the phrase “trust but verify.”

    It’s a nonsensical oxymoron. It’s like saying “I trust my wife not to cheat on me, but I verify it by having her followed.” Then you don’t trust your wife dude

    I’ll get off my soapbox now.






  • Latency plays a big role in throughput. If one download target was ‘closer’, i.e. lower latency, it will be able to scale the windowsize higher, therefore allowing more data to flow through for a given connection. Imagine network packets are envelopes and data is paper. Not all envelopes can carry the same amount of paper for a given connection, and the more paper you stuff in your envelope, the faster the transfer completes.
