I love those guys. Not that i’m playing these, just pure admiration for them pushing up the linux market share.

I have set the list of people following me and the ones i follow on private now. This seems to be the only useful thing they could scrape. Why would i care if they can see what music i listen to? It’s not like they can see my personal info and link that or is it?
In my case i masked the service because like i said, inside the lxc container there is no networking to do, it’s done on the host (proxmox). Note that disabling the service in my case was not enough since it could be invoked by other services, and then you would have to wait again.
See this for further info and maybe arguments why you shouldn’t do it.
You can use systemd-analyze blame
if you want raw numbers:
This command prints a list of all running units, ordered by the time they took to initialize. This information may be used to optimize boot-up times.
Good way to see if your systemd also waits 2 minutes for a network connection which already exists but it can’t see it because systemd doesn’t do the networking (lxc containers on proxmox in my case) lol.
Also see systemd-analyze.
flatpak good snap bad, amirite?
I remember when i wanted to make something like a chromecast audio with volumio and spotify connect on my Pi 2. I had to buy an audio DAC (~30€) because I could not get the 3.5 Jack to work correctly. It just sounded bad when cranked up to a volume you could actually hear something. You almost couldn’t understand lyrics in songs due to the static noise. I read that this was due to being badly shielded from the power source.
The Audio jack on the Pi 3 I have is ok, but still not that good compared to the Audio DAC of course. But then again, the audio DAC i bought for 30€ was said to be on par with 1000€ standalone audio interfaces lol.
This fucks me up to no end. I love this phone but that fucking search bar made me switch the launcher. I also love the Pixel launcher (if it wasn’t for that search bar), so I run the alpha release of Lawnchair. Problem is, there is no proper release bc there is not enough manpower to develop it.
I’m pretty sure its just a linux distro anyone can use, maybe even open source.
Manufacturers will choose the sweet microsoft money tho they get per device with windows preinstalled.
Lutris / Heroic: got your back bro
I seriously recommend checking out Celeste if you’re into platformers with the difficulty of dark souls. The main game is completable in 8-10 hours, but theres about 2-3 times more content in that game. There is also a speedrunning and a modding community.
Stop, I can only get so erect
Maybe one should choose another drug to alter another ones mind into thinking he’s the dragonborn. Maybe acid / shrooms, at least that was what Charles Manson did with some of his cult members to persuade them into killing other people.
Windows is shit, but the days where you have to do configuration if you don’t use some obscure notebook in one of the most used linux distros is over. I’d say gnome e.g. is pretty close to macos UI wise. There is also Hackintosh if you can’t live without it.
As for why I particularly hate apple:
There are surely more / other points to make.
Have no life, still chose Fedora / Debian. The days of Ubuntu are long gone tho.
Fedora just works, it made me stop Distro hopping. I don’t want to use something else, but when the day comes on that Red Hat starts making questionable choices, I’ll go back to Debian.
Did this bc there were no Pis to buy a year ago and I’m really glad. Learning Proxmox and hosting a ton of stuff on a little thin client the size of a VHS tape that was about 200€ and sits quietly in the corner of my room was totally worth it. There are alot of offers for used ones on ebay, e.g. lenovo thinkcentre mini, hp prodesk mini, dell optiplex mini.
I would love to replace my tp link archer c7 v5 with something more powerful, but it has to be flashable with OpenWRT and kind of an all in one box router with wifi (i know, seperation of concerns would be better, but i don’t care atm).
The options i see atm:
Problem is, they are both prohibitively expensive for a simple wifi-router.
Seems like we’re looking for the same thing, it’s a a shame.
I used Debian before, and I’m likely going back. Since Debian 12 uses the 6.1 Kernel, it’s new enough for me.
Reminds me of the occasions when iphone customers complained about their battery draining faster / their phones lagging after a software update for years, and just recently apple responded: “you can have battery or features not both lol”.
Regarding features: Usually good software development makes the software more performant over time, not less. But customers are expected to react to excessive DRM measures (like denuvo) or the uprising telemetry hell (like windows 11) with buying more performant hardware. Yields the question what is a (desired) feature and what is a bug, AND what is a cash cow for companies milking their customers.
I’m by no means a security expert, but I encrypt all my drives with LUKS on ext4 (or btrfs with the system drive on Fedora). I have a similar use case to yours, so i would be interested in your disaster plan as you call it.
