I do actually want to get a Raspberry Pi at some point… been thinking about it for about 5 years or so, BUT at the moment I want to concentrate on what I have rather than buy hardware I may take some time getting round to using

I’m quite happy with Mint, but I do have 2 laptops, one for travel and the other I can use as an experimental playground.

I think trying Arch will be out of my comfort zone right now, but I can see that as an option once I’ve got to grips with the basic stuff

Also do you remember the public safety films? The don’t go near deep water Content Warning- includes Jimmy Saville, stay away from the slurry pit, how to survive the bomb and the one that gave me nightmares broken glass (I can never frolic barefoot on the beach because of this film)

If my generation has emotional scaring it’s because of these films…

I can remember only having 3 TV channels, and they closed down sometime around midnight until the morning. You got the fuzzy black and white bits of CBR on the screen when they turned the signal off

When videos came out, only my richer friends had them and they were few and far between, we used to have an after school video club where we’d pay 10p to watch a film in the AV room (sat on a carpet of old piss stains)

The internet didn’t exist, and I saw my first computer while at secondary school in the late 80’s (I’m thinking BBC commodore or something, I can’t really remember)

I feel so fucking old right now lol

Seconding the massage gun, I had terrible muscle pain around my knee for over a year and after using one it went. I nearly fell off the bed as there wasn’t any pain. I’m now trying to loosen up the ligament/tendon around the knee and in my hip as it’s still tight…It’s really nice to be able to go on a long walk and not be in pain or having to use sticks when going downhill

I know I may sound like an Amazon review, but the difference is amazing, and also reassuring as I thought I would be heading over hill into pain and general decrepitude…I’m also using it to loosen up the bf’s knotty shoulders and bad back

There are also lots of science and nature communities on mander and beehaw, if you search by ‘all’ in the communities tab at the top, type and just go down a few rabbit holes…nudibranchs, orchids, botany, minerals, geology, animals and pets etc all exist, you just need to start searching

Non tech background (art education), but I do like a minor bit of tech tinkering and tweaking

Aiming to remain semi retired for as long as possible doing a couple of hours work a day…

The rest of the time? I have several art projects to occupy me, and now I’ve migrated over from reddit to here I have more time available for that.

I have also created a few art subs here that I’m hoping to set up properly soon, and see where they go

While I fortunately don’t have Crohns, I do have periods of horrible IBS so I can relate to the demon-farts, one evening in the park, my bf had to run away from me after I dropped a stinker, this was outside
