Same thing here, but with basically every industry and not just news media. We call it the “revolving door” effect.
Guilty. I like to call YouTube my morphine drip. It’s quite literally an addiction for me on the same level as drugs have been for me, but more addictive.
In America at least, this is as a direct result of corporate media and money in politics both controlling the narrative. None of this was naturally occurring.
This reflects American politics as well.
I’m American and I use the term “liberal” specifically to refer to neoliberals. I’m probably in the minority, though, especially given Fox News and GamerGate calling everything they don’t like “liberal”.
I’m an American. I really hope the German masses can learn this lesson before it"s too late.
But you guys need to counter the hateful messaging against immigrants with an equally effective message against the people with power/money, otherwise, fascism is likely to win in the long run against neoliberalism, as we just saw in America after our long-term experiment with neoliberalism, which really kicked off in the 1980s with Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher.
In the 1990s, the American Democrats felt so defeated after having lost big time to Reagan and Bush Sr., so Bill Clinton decided the Democrats cannot “unilatterally disarm” and must start taking corporate money. This acceptance of corporate money led to their idiology becoming the same as Reagan’s idiology, and then the Republican party being bith opportunists and contrarians, took advantage of that situation by shifting further and further right (see: the ratchet effect), until they openly became fascists.
I’m not too familiar with German politics, but if anything I said applies, then heed my warning.
Basically all you need to know is every instance has their own admins with their own rules, and often times you will see instances who are focused on a particular group of people, like my instance, for instance, which is for hardcore computer geeks, but where everyone is welcome regardless of whether or not they are even into computers.
I also like my instance because they explicitly choose to not defederate with any instance. I can choose what to block myself, which is how I prefer it.
There are also instances like db0’s (former /r/piracy moderator) for example, which focus more on individual freedoms/anarchist philosophy.
I started off on .world for a month until I found my instance.
They need to operate out of a different country that respects human knowledge even at the expense of corporations’ profits. What exactly that country is, I have no clue.
But yeah. In the short term, moving out of a fascist country to basically anywhere else is a good idea for them.
Everytime I hear about the need to pay to do a job, my mind immediately jumps to pyramid scheme.
Not on .world. I’ve noticed .world is more of a neoliberal, mostly pro-capitalism instance in general.
Note, I’m talking more about the moderation rather than members.
Israelis and Jews in general have been victims of a massive pro-genocide propaganda campaign from the Israeli government for many, many years now. Not everyone buys into the propaganda, though.
Kind of similar dehumanizing rhetoric as we’re seeing in America right now when it comes to immigrants and trans people or the cold war rhetoric of the past when it came to Russians.
There are no winners in war (except for banana companies and Big Oil).
It’s almost like capitalism is an inherently broken system or something
As if they care about hypocrasy. They actually enjoy being hypocrites because it “triggers the libs”
Trump is and always has been a spoiled child who’s never been told “no” in his entire life, and he’s going to continue to act like one.
I’d argue that women who are in abusive relationships or relationships with potential manosphere abusers are less safe than if they were single.
I’d also like to know. Carmack, unlike most tech bros, is actually intelligent. I wouldn’t have taken him to be a Nazi, especially since one of the games that made him rich was about killing Nazis.
People missed it because they chose to “not pay attention to politics”, leading to right wing indoctrination.
Turns out everything is political.
Many of them aren’t shitty. It’s just the 10% or so of incels/creeps/etc that make the rest of us look bad.
You can if you emulate a CPU that does have an MMU. Someone has actually done this to get Linux booting on an Intel 4004. Another one got Linux to boot on a Commodore 64.
