I was on the same boat as you forever. I came back to ow2 late last year. I’ll say this. OW feels better than it ever has. Very balanced and very fair, while maintaining that very chaotic and energized feeling. They added tiered perks which really break up the monotony of the game, and also brought back loot boxes.

It feels like they realized the game became stagnant, and they’re doing as much as they can to bring it back to peak, and past that.

They also are bringing back 'classic overwatch", and I’ll say this… After you play classic and go back to regular you can feel the difference. The only thing I miss is 6v6 but it seems like that’s coming back soon too

Also worth noting, segregation may have “ended” in 64, but there’s still soft segregation to this day. There’s a massive divide in culture, that’s left over from administrations such as Reagan. Racism still hasn’t ended, although it has gotten a lot better just in the time I’ve been alive.

When reddit was coming up, a big issue people had was it was too confusing with bad UI. People didn’t know which subreddits to follow. Its very similar, theres just a whole other layer.

Just find a popular instance that is federated with similar instances. And making accounts are easy too, so just do it in two or three instances. Yeah it’s a bit much compared to reddit, but it’s very very easy.

The legislation in question requires you to prove you’re over 18 to enter these sites. Whether that’s through id or credit card info. However, this can lead to some pretty insane security issues. Just imagine if the id of every user along with their browsing data got leaked.

So instead, pornhub just refuses to operate in those states.

That’s a possibility. You could also make a point that it’s cultural at this point to use steam if you PC game. The exact reason steam is used is split across many different points. However, I stand by my statement. If games like league, valorant, osrs, or anything from blizzard can exist strongly in the pc scene, I think it heavily refutes your points. For those people at least. These are all games that don’t use (or for some aren’t mainly used by) the steam client.

GoG has been a competitor for as long as I can remember. It’s not exactly a fair comparison because they mostly carry older games. But you can buy a ton of games off GoG. Itch.io exists, however it’s a bit niche. Origin, humble bundle, Microsoft store. You can use all of these and get the majority of the games steam offers. Why don’t people? Because steam is just better. Steam has competition. It has a ton. People don’t feel that way cause EVERYONE who games on PC buys from steam. But it’s not because steam has a monopoly, it’s because steam offers more than their competitors, and does it better.

I don’t like monopolies. I agree with you. However, a monopoly existing because they are snuffing out the competition and forcing it to be the only option for consumers is different than a monopoly that exists because consumers choose it over and over again because of their pro consumer policies.

Now because this makes it seem like I’m saying “steam is the best”, there’s a good bit of stuff steam has done that I don’t like. But they understand what the gaming scene is and not just see the consumers as cash cows.

Steam has made great strides in helping to make the gaming scene more consumer friendly. They constantly have sales, make refunds extremely easy (and in some cases have forced refunds), and are even now setting guidelines to battle passes and how you can’t just advertise it as a battle pass and instead have to list whats in it. Epic hates consumers and their main business strategy is to force business by paying publishers to only release on their store.

It doesn’t matter how good the game is, I’m not purchasing from a store that doesn’t have the customer in mind.

We don’t actually promote higher levels of dopamine as far as I know. Dopamine agonists work by mimicing what dopamine does to your nervous system. It doesn’t actually produce any more. Also you can be given dopamine intravenously. It is mostly used to raise blood pressure in newborns. But you are right. For other uses, its smarter to mimic it, because of how short it lasts.

We do, however, promote a higher concentration of serotonin with SSRIs. We do that by blocking natural inhibitors that destroy serotonin after being used. This way we can use them more before they die off.
