I use Mint because I use lots of small project software that tends to only have packages for Debian/Ubuntu. Mint also works very well with an NVIDIA card. I’ve tried other distros but they fail to work well with nvidia.
When I get a new AMD laptop I want to try Vanilla OS as apparently it can use any package format but is also immutable which I like. I just hope they have the KDE Plasma edition out by then because I really don’t enjoy Gnome
It’s only as safe as Apple, which is to say you can’t trust them. If you have AI enabled it’ll be scanning everything (to include signal) to learn your habits and assist you “better”.
Here is Firewalls Don’t Stop Dragons latest podcast. He is interviewing a cyber security expert and at the time stamp I gave he talks about the malware briefly. I’ve also read about this in the past as well but can’t supply evidence.

I noticed this app on F-Droid but have no experience with it. Maybe it’ll suit your needs
Batocera is nice too. It’s half an emulation console and half Kodi. You can tell it to launch Kodi as default too. Whereas LibreElec is only Kodi with a limited gaming ability
No. Just install GrapheneOS for free yourself
Thank you so much!
I just found my 3DS XL a few days ago. Are there custom softwares to install on it?
Ontop of the various good suggestions already mentioned you could also keep your choice of medium in a safe
My brother-in-law got a Switch for his kid. They tried to play the “free” classic emulated games but then it stopped him and said he had to create some online account which costs money. That’s some scummy tactics to get you to pay a subscription for a “free” game
Totally agree
Care to elaborate?
Good luck with privacy there. At minimum disable the AI stuff that has access to every app, and that’s if you believe their toggles do anything, which Apple has been proven to not listen to them in the past
One might try KDE Connect, Local Send, and Signal which has a desktop client

That sounds plausible but I’m trying to focus on the positive here
