That’s the point of the AUR helpers like yay. Sounds like you’ve got other problems going on, maybe Arch Linux is not for you.
I’d recommend topgrade as well, its super useful for upgrading everything in your system regardless of distro.

My vote would be EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma.
There are issues with both AMD and nvidia. I’ve tried both. If you have nvidia then may as well just give it a go. I’d suggest something like Nobara, or EndeavourOS to get started. Use nvidia proprietary drivers for a better experience.
I’ve stuck with KDE Plasma for the desktop environment over the years.
Did you even read the post? They say that they believe that including the decryption key is not violating anything as its only a small portion of the software.
