I’m watching it from a distance to see how things go. I’m a fan of the Dune books and the new movies as well, so the world would be interesting to explore. Unfortunately everything I’ve seen of it gives me the feeling that it should have been a single player game instead.

What they mentioned about the player built houses was the first thing I thought of when I heard you could build your own. There’s going to be huge amounts of clutter everywhere you can build!

Ubuntu was my first when I started poking around with it. Not sure which version, but it was during the Unity era. Pop!_OS was the one I started using when I switched full time. I’m still using it on my main computer, but I’m also using Fedora, Ubuntu, NixOS, and Mint on other devices because I like variety!

I’ve seen people doing that, I should look into doing it sometime. I mostly use the Steam Deck for handheld emulation, but it can’t hurt to have more options!

I was never a big fan of the “Vader” style 2600, but it seems a lot of people like the aesthetic. I was always partial to the six switch look, I just wish they would have made a Sears Video Arcade sixer with the Atari branding! I like the silver by the switches better than the black on the official ones.

I’ve still got mine, and it still works great! I sold my PSP to get a used one about a month from launch, and I’ve kept it ever since. It’s a great console, if only there were more games for it.

Nope, there were two different versions! The 6 switch is the original. (And in my opinion the better looking one!) The 4 switch came later, and still has 6 switches, they just moved the difficulty switches to the back. I believe it saved them some money and made production a little easier because everything was on one circuit board with that setup.

I’ve got to go with the 2600 as well. Mostly because of the wood grain!

It works great, at least for everything I’ve tried. Newest consoles I’ve emulated are GameCube, Dreamcast, PSP. I would recommend EmuDeck as a launcher for your games, I set it up on my and my spouse’s Decks and it’s been working really well.

In my opinion the Deck is one of the nicest options for handheld emulation right now. If you play PC games as well it’s an easy recommend.

However, if you’re only doing older console games you can get one of those emulation handhelds for a fraction of the cost. I don’t want to say you should go that route, I just want to make sure you’re aware of all the options!

I know someone that has a Beelink mini PC and is happy with it, and I’ve heard some good things elsewhere too. I’m probably going to get one once my current Lenovo mini goes bad on me. They have some sub-$200 USD options that I think can fit two m.2 SSDs in them.

They’ve given up trying to make a better one and are doing a Skyrim now! 😂

Seriously though, I’m glad to see Playstation users getting the chance to play what I think is the best game in the series. I wouldn’t be upset if they just continued upgrading AOE2 with DLC for another 25 years!

It’s been a while! I was curious and just checked, September 2022 was the update 26 news post!

I think it’s a good decision too. I understand why they were still using it, but I’m sure it would turn some people away.

I’m happy to see they won! It’s amazing how low Nintendo can go.

Euro Truck Simulator 2!

The Greece DLC released about a month ago, and I just picked it up in the last few days. Lots of fun so far, the map is starting to get pretty big. I’m planning to do another long haul across the whole map at some point.

I definitely recommend it, but it seems there are people that bounce off of the combat system. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it’s very enjoyable when you get it.

Some days I just ignore quests and ride my horse around the countryside. I tend to play a lot of dice at the taverns, and doing some hunting is also fun.

Kingdom Come Deliverance

The standard game mode has map markers, quest icons, and a health bar. However, if you switch to hardcore mode it removes pretty much everything. There’s no map markers on the world map, and no compass, so you need to figure out where you are on the map by building up knowledge of the landmarks and roads of the area. The sun and moon can be used as directional markers as well.

Not exactly hidden gems, but I finally bought Stray. Also decided to pick up Xenonauts. I can’t decide whether I should grab Phoenix Point though. I keep eyeing up Terra Invicta too, but I’m almost positive it’s going to be a bit too much micromanagement for me to enjoy it.

The Thinkpad link that was shared below looks pretty nice, they tend to be fairly cheap and easy to get replacement batteries and parts. There’s a lot available in that $150 to $200 bracket on eBay. Edit: I just saw it’s 14", so a bit bigger than what you wanted. You can filter by screen size and price on eBay to give you an idea of what you can get. You may need a new battery depending on the age, so keep that in mind.
