I am a project manager for an automotive part maker.

My job is emails, tickets and meetings on the computer all day every day.

My job is to make sure the engineers work on the correct tasks at the right time. I am responsible for the planning and delivering on time (delivery is a part with mechanical, electronic and software working together correctly). I am responsible to keep the project within the budget. I decide on priorities, what the team needs to be working on first, second and third. I am responsible for making the team work according to the quality process, which means they must follow to correct steps, design rules, reviews and create the appropriate documentation.

I can tell you, sitting in front of the screen all day, is harmful to health (in a different way than a physical job is). For example, almost everyone I work with is wearing glasses, my own vision has degraded a lot.

I haven’t measure precisely, performance is not a major concern to me. But I remember seeing local write speed around 350MB/s (reading from SSD writing to HDD RAID array).

Mostly French banks at this point, I only know of PostBank that offers Wero at the moment. I know for sure DeutcheBank doesn’t have it yet.

You are right, I may have confused things a bit. EPI is the EU program and Wero is one project developed by a goup of banks taking advantage of the EPI.

As far as I understand, it’s nothing more than bank-to-bank transfer, just made easy with links and QR codes instead of typing IBAN in your online banking.

Wero is an account-to-account (A2A) solution, meaning that transfers will go through almost immediately once approved. It follows the SEPA Instant Credit Transfer protocol established by the European Payments Council in 2017.

This is what makes me hopeful with Wero being a government initiative, but it needs a serious push before it starts to become useful.

I learned about it recently myself on Lemmy. Many French banks are enrolled, but only 1 German bank. I hope it can develop, but today it’s practically useless. It needs a serious push from national governments if they want it to succeed.

Without digital euro, there is already Wero app to replace PayPal, Visa and MasterCard. At least in theory… It’s a payment app that allows to pay and receive money via wire transfer from bank to bank without fee.

In practice, many banks are not enrolled in this program and I have yet to find a single business where I can pay this way. But at least replacing PayPal to send money to friends and family should be easy enough.

Over the years of using Windows (2010-2023)

I switched to Linux full time in 2011 👴. Was fed up with Windows 7’s bullshit.

But I must say, I leaned a tone while I was using Windows XP,. This is during this time I would build my first PCs, setup local network at home and for LAN parties, setup file sharing and damn printers 🤬, start to learn programming.

It’s not even the prison sentence they are contesting the most (2 years suspended + 2 years served at home with electronic bracelet), but the 5 years ineligibility sanction effective immediately.

Can’t wait for my 1€ coins with Big Ben on it, and 2€ coins with beans on toast !
