  • Isn’t that what threading is? Concurrency always happens on single core. Parallelism is when separate threads are running on different cores. Either way, while the post is meant to be humorous, understanding the difference is what prevents people from picking up the topic. It’s really not difficult. Most reasons to bypass the GIL are IO bound, meaning using threading is perfectly fine. If things ran on multiple cores by default it would be a nightmare with race conditions.








  • Played the shit out of tlou multiplayer. It felt like something that got added to the game with little effort or creativity and it came out amazing. When TLOU2 was released I was saddened to hear that there would be no multiplayer yet but that it was coming. It didn’t need to be much. It could have been the same multiplayer experience with some new maps. Uncharted3 and uncharted 4 multiplayer was great. The community really made the multiplayer what it was. That’s where NickEh30 started making content I loved watching SanchoWest on YouTube going over some of his favorite plays.

    Really sucks that companies get away with this “we’ll finish out the game after the release” and there’s no consequence. It was promised.




  • Honestly, whether or not we agree with the approach of Linus, these kind of disagreements happen in the real world. Tensions run high. Recently I’ve been on calls where things need to be implemented this month, during a time where most of our resources(engineers) will be on vacation. These kind of conversations can be important to have to make sure this doesn’t happen again. The project management team got their ass handed to them for kneeling to the LOBs’ ridiculous timeline expectations. And they were told to hold the L if things don’t work on the go-live date, there will be no post implementation support until mid January if something doesn’t work.
