That phrase “based on” is doing a lot of heavy lifting, here.
Not to mention circumvents the purpose of alt. text letting those unable to see to know what’s going on in the image.
It’s just like him to make the maximum degree of suffering the point of any inane policy decision he makes…
Why do people post things like this? And who cares? It doesn’t matter; it antimatters.
Not unintentionally correct…because that was my very intentional point.
In spite of car manufacturers claiming seatbelts and air bags were unnecessary, the sheer number of resulting deaths caused us to actually do something about it. I don’t look at the lack of driver’s licenses as anything approaching a rosy past. I will never be sympathetic to the argument that a lack of common sense safety regulations which saves lives somehow grants us more freedom (other than to abdicate all of your freedoms instantaneously via early death, which overwhelmingly impacts the poor and marginalized); sorry.
He may get a short term gain
He was elected to run the government like a business; this is the CEO signature move.
Like all the car crashes that now require us to get a driver’s license…; can’t mow down the government if you’re trained on the rules of the road!
People can’t just use tools that impact the lives of others outside themselves in peace; smdh…
It’s funny because, while not a 1-for-1 cultural fit, Mastodon’s site structure has felt much closer to Tumblr’s. I feel like the reason Twitter people keep saying Mastodon’s insufficient (while, eventually, flocking to BlueSky) is that BlueSky offers a more similar UX, in terms of shunting you along algorithmically. I don’t think there’s any issue with Mastodon’s UI (other than maybe PixelFed, I think it’s the closest Fediverse project to other mainstream social media UI) but I suspect the UX isn’t quite right for people expecting Twitter.
However, I, as a Tumblr transplant, felt right at home.
Hate that you put the sweet on the same plate as the savory but you did a great job: it looks delicious.
I mean, I have to assume they meant “oppose” and just mistyped.
My parents were absolute craftsmen of that particular school of thought.
I mean, last insane homeless person I ran into threw his arm around me like we were lifelong buddies and told me all the things he’d seen that day that he found cool/interesting, not tried to assault me.
Why you always gotta go and make things so complified…
Dual-booting was how I first got into Linux; it truly leaves open the ability to keep everything you’re worried about not having.
What’s the VPN?
First I’m hearing but that doesn’t surprise me; it’s probably better than most companies you could give your money to but, in any way they could, they don’t do anything truly groundbreaking such that I can justify to myself giving money rather than just keeping said money in my pocket (and, in turn, much more likely to go to mutual aid, charities, non-profits, or coöperatively-owned or union-backed businesses).
They could have done a more traditional coöp, open-sourced their infrastructure (even if it was just the app.!), or really emphasized a particular stance or message they as a company would stand by…but they haven’t done any of those. They basically are just offering up YouTube but as a streaming service. But that doesn’t solve the myriad of issues that make a streaming service a business that (like most businesses) prey on their customers.
In the Chicago black community
I’m sorry, what‽ As a black Chicagoan, no the Hell we aren’t.
This is the answer.
For whatever complaints one might have about Discord (and they are legion), it does a really good job of packing a bunch of different functionality in one place and with a UI that’s super easy to grasp and understand what does what and how that requires very little foreknowledge of what the thing is or its underlying mechanisms.
If I am completely new and pretty blank of what it is, Discord’s pretty good at me being able to catch up quickly; it’s got a good UI and, following that, functionality for a bunch of things related to communication. And, if I need a quick solution that just gets me going…that’s gonna be pretty painless.
Yeah; of course. Ze’s referencing supporting Palestine (as the watermelon became more widely recognized as a symbol for them due to recent events).
It could be a bit of them all; his base isn’t large enough on its own but, together with those who wanted to protest vote and those looking for relief from the economy and those who hated the idea of voting for a black woman, they may’ve all been enough to get him over the finish line.
