Education is the obvious fix, but at least in America, the idiots are trying to destroy it. If people learned critical thinking, almost everything else would fall into place. If we stopped reinforcing learned helplessness and made people practice logic and learn consequences, society would see a huge benefit. People need to be held accountable for their ignorance. Otherwise, they won’t learn. Those who refuse to learn should rightfully be shunned, because they’re the biggest propaganda weapon out there.
Cognitive dissonance is another major reason for idiocracy. The MAGAts are so blatant about their love for it. “Wokeness” is healing from cognitive dissonance, which they’ve labeled as a virus.
I’m sympathetic and offer to help someone if they’re being a bit stupid (all of us have our moments), but if they refuse, that’s where they should be held accountable.
The headline is very misleading. Porn companies are considering facial recognition as an option for validating age. Governments are putting more pressure on porn websites to keep minors away from the content, but it’s very hard to thoroughly prove your identity online. A government issued photo ID is useless if you have nothing to compare it to visually. That’s why many websites use bank/credit card info as opposed to an ID.
It is definitely a privacy concern if you worry about it being known that you watch porn, but I don’t think it’s right to fault the company.
It’s all relative. Ubuntu desktop is minimal compared to Windows, and I’ve found KDE to run much better than default Ubuntu. It’s lightweight for how much it offers.
I use KDE plasma because I’m new to Linux but also want something minimal system-wise. I love the programs and the interface. Maybe my opinion would be different if I spent more time with other DE’s or used it as my daily driver, but I’m sold on it now.
GNOME is definitely more user-friendly for someone who is moving over from Windows/Mac. I wouldn’t recommend KDE to someone who is just going to stick to using one-click apps.
As a problem-solver, it isn’t only women.

That’s the official term presented by the WH. The rest is correct.
I’m very confused about what OP considers customization. My only experience has been setting up my home server so far, so maybe I’ll be compelled to do more “customizing” when I make the switch on my PCs.
Does installing a GUI on Ubuntu Server already break that rule? Or is it a success because it’s only software? It’s definitely not “out of the box”.

Read the article. It’s like journalists are actively trying to lose his bid for re-election through misleading headlines…
I live in Texas but have never looked into solar. The fight to switch to renewable energy will be a long one because of the politicians. Texas makes a shit ton of money from oil. Politicians will continue to convince citizens that renewable energy is dangerous, ill-conceived, and “woke” so that we stick to traditional resources. There’s nothing stopping someone from getting solar panels, but I’d assume it would be more expensive. I don’t know if there has to be prior infrastructure in place, because that would be a problem. Some people don’t even have fast internet in the Houston suburbs because they don’t want to lay all the wire for only 100 people.
What’s the easiest way to find communities across different instances? If I could figure that out, I would just forget about reddit.

Check out other Assassin’s Creed games! I agree that Red Dead Redemption is anther good suggestion. I suggest the first one as well. Maybe Fable? The second one was my favorite, but people rave about the first one as well. I didn’t play the first one until I didn’t have as much time to game.
This might be a miss, but the Sims can be insane with mods. You can cheat their needs and not worry about those. Sims 3 is open world and the best of the series, but I’m not as familiar with the mods available for it. There are Sims 4 mods that introduce murder (guns and knives provided of course), drugs and gangs, zombies, prostitution, murderous toddlers, and much more that I can’t think of right now.
Modders are fucking lunatics when it comes to the Sims. Someone made a mod for Sims 3 where you could grill and eat a baby. EA stepped in to shut that down…

From what I’ve read, links were redirecting to “shock” websites. It’s more of an old-internet Rick roll, but with gore type content instead of a silly music video. I don’t think we have to worry about data, but we’ll learn more in the next hour(s).

Thank you!

Can someone ELI5 what this means? Do users need to be vigilant? Is information or malware being passed around? What can we expect going forward?
That is interesting. I’m not surprised Japan was ahead, but not by over a decade.
My dad had a landline until probably 2018. I’m guessing it must have been bundled with some network package because he had two smart phones by then.
The timeline of technology is absolutely crazy, especially phones. Like you mentioned, it hasn’t even been that long. I got my first “smartphone” in maybe 2012.
I’m pretty sure only the director’s cut has the excerpts from the book. It still takes at least two watches and some pausing.
I could have sworn that there was some blockbuster 90s media invention that was first created like a decade before it was commonly used.
But… bathrooms!!! With the children!!! /s
