Traditional nuclear reactors need a lot of water to operate, that’s why they’re always built on the coast. China has developed a molten salt reactor that doesn’t need water for cooling, so maybe Japan will start buying those.
Japan is long stretched slim Island at the edge of the pacific ocean which makes it perfect for off shore wind turbines (like the one recently opened) and sea hydro power plants.
Good to hear, but maybe let’s not put them right next to tsunami prone coastline this time?

Disappointing. Renewables are a better investment.
Nuclear Energy is not renewable, but it will take a long time for us to run out of fuel it. Fusion energy also looks quite promising.
That may not be true for Japan, at least with current technology. They are pretty limited in land with a lot of people.
