Seriously no one said REM??? Maybe im old. Fist song i thought of ha
Olivier Messiaen, Quatuor pour la fin du Temps (quartet for the end of time) was the first one I thought of. It was written in 1941 while the composer was interned in the German Stalag VIII-A POW camp. I’m fairly sure I’ve listened to it but I don’t remember anything about what it was like. Its fame is partly from the circumstances of its composition and premiere.

And on a lighter(?) note, Tom Lehrer, So Long Mom.
First tracks that come to mind that aren’t already on your list:
- Doomtree - The Grand Experiment
- Bad Religion - No Control and/or Atomic Garden
- Porno for Pyros - Pets
- The 1975 - Love It If We Made It
EDIT: Forgot
- Tom Lehrer - We Will All Go Together When We Go
I can’t believe I forgot No Control xD
Thanks a ton for all the awesome suggestions guys! This sucker’s getting more and more awesome by the second :D
Skeeter Davis “The End of the World” is a tonal shift from most of what you have there but after watching Girl Interrupted, it would be a must have on the list for me.

Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus
“I’ve seen them come, I’ve seen them go.” And you said, “All things pass into the night.”
probably any Weyes Blood song but you need
It’s not just me, it’s everybody
Not as doom and gloom but I feel like “We’ll Meet Again” could fit the theme
U2 - Until The End Of The World
Not sure if it quite matches the vibe you got there, but “Goodbye to a World” by Porter Robinson feels very much like an end of the world song to me.
