Anybody else excited for Super Mario Bros. Wonder? I think the animations look really slick and it’s awesome to see 2d mario that doesn’t look and play like a game that came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006.

“Hey, we already got that whole eating mushrooms thing going, what if Mario was actually literally tripping fucking BALLS in our next game?”
“Nah man, we can’t market that to children…”
“We’re just gonna call it ‘wonder seeds’ or some shit, idk” “SOLD!”

For real though, any excuse for the teams at Nintendo to unleash their whole creativity is a plus in my book.
I’m not preordering out of principle, but the game looks great!

Yeah I definitely don’t pre order games anymore. But I’ll be picking this one up on release for sure.

The idea of a purely contextual power up is a fun idea, and “wonder” is a good term for what’s been missing from recent 2D Mario games.

The character design and animation looks wonderful and fun. Really makes it feel like the “next generation” of 2D Mario. A huge improvement over the NSMB style which they have reused for far too long now.

Plus, the game itself just looks extra wacky and off the wall, and looks super fun because of it. Tons of new ideas were shown too, making really seem like how Odyssey was for 3D Mario. Really looking forward to seeing more!

I think you spoke on the most important point. New Super Mario Bros lasted its tenure for far too long, basically killing the entire 2D Mario franchise. This breath of fresh air will continue to inspire future generations of developers to continue to care about 2D Mario. Feels good, considering my entire childhood was spent playing 2D platformers on Nintendo consoles.

I’m excited cause it feels like it’s allowed to be creative and weird like how Mario Odyssey got weird in some kingdoms and in the mechanics but it get’s weirder compared to other Mario games with fully voiced characters and not sure if I’ll be exclusive to the flowers.

The Toad at the end shows they’re open to redesigning character so we aren’t stuck with generic Mario characters all the time and might show different and weirder variants of npc or baddies not ties to wonder parts.

Playable Daisy in a mainline Mario game. I never expected it to happened but it adds to how weird this game is cause I honestly expected Pauline to be playable before Daisy would and hopefully she’s playable from the start.

also playable Yoshi and a 4 players can be Yoshi at the same time and by the looks of it they’re the easier character with the flutter jump and curious how the riding works will the rider or would Yoshi be in control and will player start sacrificing each other to the bottomless pits.

I’m worries some the the wonder parts or powerups will become tedious or take too much control away from the player at times like when Mario’s a ball rolling cause those bits get annoying in Kirby star allies so I expect it be annoying here as well but hopefully I’m wrong.

I’m excited for it, cause 2D Mario is something I grew up with on the NES and SNES. I love the art style they went with or this one, it’s so clean, but it looks like it will play like the older games that were 2D. I don’t know if I will get it on release but it’s definitely on my to be played list.

I missed the boat on New Super Mario Bros, and mostly skipped the whole series. But I’m pretty excited for this one. Will wait for reviews, but I expect to pick this one up.

Aesthetically speaking, return to form for 2d mario !

Not big 2d mario fan, was never interested in them , but the New series (along with 3d world) is especially ugly as sin . Wonder’s absolutely not that at all , experimentalism (as seen with the 3d titles for instance) is sorta what defines mario imho

It’s cool that you can understand a topic without being a huge fan. Cool to keep up with the entire industry as a whole. Good stuff.
