Ubuntu touch is indeed very stable compared to the other linux distros.

Have you tried using the teleports app?

I’m currently using SailfishOS as my daily driver due to the lack of apps on Ubuntu Touch. I have Ubuntu Touch on my PinePhone though. It certainly has its advantages over SailfishOS such as better app isolation and I really like the idea of convergence.

I’m considering to port one of my Saiflish applications to Ubuntu Touch as well (a Jellyfin client), if I ever find the time for it. :)

Um, it is actually a bit broken and I need to find a new maintainer for it, as I currently lack a phone with UT installed. My Nexus 5 broke and I decided to revert my OnePlus3 to LinageOS for various reasons.

Edit: https://github.com/poVoq/ulemmy if anyone is interested.

What if we use Webber? 🤔

Sure that works, but my app has a few additional features like sharing links from other apps.

If you posted your repo in the relevant communities, I bet you’ll get some pull requests!

do i have to unlock bootloader in order to install it ? man, i have such a crappy huawei device that i regret buying 'cause huawei makes it almost impossible to unlock the bootloader.

There are only 78 compatible devices, to install on others, you must do as the other replier said. You also need to unlock bootloader and use TWRY to install a specific ROM image on your phone (they give the ROM to you)

Unfortunately you probably can’t. You have to port linux to each phone you want to use it on and because most android drivers are proprietary you’ll have to reverse engineer everything from audio to graphics. You could check around the XDA forums to see if anyone has at least gotten the bootloader unlocked though.

Yes, sadly no way around that with custom roms and other OS.

Xiaomi Mi A2… I really hate this hardware, but…

Phosh seems like a really promising mobile-OS too!

Yeah I’m really excited about phosh. Gnome has been building up to something like this for a long time, being able to run on everything from a phone to a desktop workstation. And it looks great.

Not an OS, Phosh is what we call “desktop” environment for mobile devices.

I had it on my Galaxy Nexus for a while early on, when it was still a Canonical project. It was nowhere near daily driver ready, but it was a fun experience. I was hoping it world grow to become a competitor to the duopoly, but oh well…

I remember using the FirefoxOS browser extension too, another fun little project that was dropped.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
