  • No, and we haven’t forgotten the Bush presidency either 2001-2009, and his comment about being either with or against USA, when he started a war based on false intelligence. Maybe electing him once could be forgiven, but that he was elected for a 2nd term, was already a very strong warning, that the American population cannot be trusted.

Obama restored a lot of that trust, because he was the first president of color, which gave hope that the American population was ready to move on from the policies of Bush, and Obama was very liked in Europe, and he was an amazing politician.
But even under Obama we had problems, where Obama claimed USA had found a good balance in their level of secret intelligence, the balance being control of the secret services by a secret group of politicians, and regulated by secret courts, and only respecting civil rights of Americans. He also conducted illegal drone strikes that are estimated to have cost 70000 innocent civilian lives.
But despite such insane examples of American exceptionalism, Obama was very liked in Europe.

Enter Trump! Trump tore apart the agreement with Iran, he threaten that USA might leave NATO, claiming that NATO was a relic that wasn’t needed anymore, he constantly criticized allies for not lifting their part of the burden, completely failing to understand the nature of the alliances USA had. The election of Trump more than anything else, showed allied countries that USA was unreliable.

Enter Biden, and yes the pendulum swung the other direction, but far from all the way. Relations became way more civil, but relations were not strengthened much, what was ruined by Trump was not repaired, and Biden failed to patch up many of the destructive things Trump had destroyed, like for instance the nuclear agreement with Iran.
Biden also failed in helping Ukraine nearly as much as the financial aid would indicate, putting strong limitations on Ukraine to not attack oil industries, and even preventing Ukraine from attacking into Russia at all! Making it near impossible for Ukraine to defend themselves efficiently. Biden helped Ukraine defend themselves, but at the same time helped Russia to not lose too.

Enter Trump 2nd term, and we now have a shitshow where USA is actively worse than China regarding EU interests.
I already listed 11 points where USA is working against European interests.
And mind you this list exist despite what Americans call checks and balances!!!
We have now been shown with certainty, that the American population cannot be trusted, and that the American democracy cannot be trusted to prevent an insane president from utterly destroying everything it is in the power of USA to destroy.
There are zero guarantees that another American president would be stopped from repeating what Trump has done, or maybe going even further!!

The move by the world to achieve independence from USA is not something that is being considered, it is something that has already started, and it is all encompassing, from trade and defense to technologies where USA is currently dominating.
This will not be stopped, even if the next president of USA is as popular as Obama was.

America first has truly become America alone, exactly as Hillary Clinton predicted.

  • No wonder, USA has consistently worked against European interests since Trump became president.

    The list goes to 11!!

    1. Putting extra tariffs on imports from Europe.
    2. Threatening to take Greenland by force.
    3. Abandoning numerous international agreements and organizations.
    4. Threatening Canada which EU absolutely consider a friend and ally.
    5. Often supporting Russia not enforcing trade sanctions, and supporting Russia in the UN.
    6. Failing to support Ukraine despite promises to do so for Ukraine giving up their Nuclear arsenal.
    7. Starting a moronic war against Iran, that is harmful to the global economy, including Europe.
    8. Threatening to abandon NATO and not respect article 5, making USA all but completely irrelevant as an ally.
    9. Not just failing to respect but directly sabotaging The International Criminal Court.
    10. Sabotaging the World Trade Organization by paralyzing the appeals court, and failing to contribute financially.
    11. Degrading international law in numerous ways, with illegal activities like kidnapping Maduro, blockade of Cuba and attack on Iran.

Clearly by their behavior, USA is acting like an enemy to Europe and EU. More so than China!!

  • Brexit was always an economic trade-off.

It pretty obviously was, except the Brexit campaign lied about it, and claimed it would even be beneficial, because EU would be forced to accept trade with UK on similar terms, because they claimed EU needed UK more than UK needed EU.
And on top of keeping trade with EU, UK would be free to negotiate better deals with USA and many other countries.

The Brexit campaign was a lie, which even the dimmest Brit should be able to see now.
I personally warned about this, roughly estimating an economic decline of 1% per year for the foreseeable future, compared to remaining in EU. And now after 10 years the decline has been estimated at 8%.

The effect has not been a sudden collapse

This too is exactly as expected, but unfortunately the decline doesn’t seem to have leveled out yet. But I think the point where it will is not too many years into the future. But when I warned about the economic results of Brexit, I warned exactly that the harm would accumulate over many years, and probably reach about 10% in 10 years.

My estimate now is that Brexit will still have a negative effect even after 10 years, but only about half the next 10 years of what it was the first 10. So the ultimate loss will be about 12%. And from that point progress will probably be at a comparable pace to if UK had remained in EU.

8% lost economic potential is already huge, hopefully it won’t come to 12%, but I’m afraid it will, because UK remains a less attractive country to invest in than if UK was in EU, and that will inevitably slow economic growth.

  • Are you factoring in the most rigorous sanctions

China is a major ally to North Korea, and obviously Russia is too. Why wouldn’t it be enough trade to have access to the biggest global market in the world (China), and the market with the most natural resources too (Russia).
North Korea has plenty access to trade, this is not like Cuba or even Iran. North Korea has constantly threatened surrounding countries including Japan. Cuba hasn’t and even Iran didn’t threaten their neighbors more than than they were threatened by their neighbors. Iran actually made an agreement with USA and EU. North Korea never wanted to even negotiate, except for easing the famine caused by extreme North Korean incompetence.

Do you understand how crazy you sound? not to mention your premise is entirely false

When you are starving in the province, it doesn’t help that prestige apartments are built in the city. We have seen other dictators do this too, and it does NOT improve living conditions, on the contrary it is spending resources in a way that doesn’t benefit either the people or the country. If you can’t afford food, chances are you can’t afford to rent an apartment in the city either.

Do you know how many people outside of the western periphary capitalist countries are malnourished? much much more

No other country has had so consistently repeated famines as North Korea, just look at South Korea, and you can see how a better managed country with almost the exact same geographic conditions and trade opportunities can work. If you can’t see the difference in how badly North Korea is managed compared to every other country in the world, then you are blind to reality.

    Did epstien told you that?

Are you insane or a child? How is Epstein in any way relevant to this?

which america invaded the DPRK killing its 12-15% population

First of all, the peace agreement was entered in 1953 after 3 years of war. Not so long after the communists took over in China in 1949. China has moved on and recovered after the WW2 occupation by Japan and the civil war after. North Korea has had 73 years to recover, but is arguably worse today than they were 73 years ago.
To continue to blame “the west” three quarters of a century after is insane, and a willful act of denying reality.

There is absolutely nothing good about North Korea, and the North Korean regime has no excuses for how bad it is.
The people however, are probably mostly innocent victims to circumstances that are very hard for them to change.
Why don’t you consider the plight of the malnourished and oppressed people of North Korea? Instead of defending a regime that is among the very worst and most cruel and brutal in the world?

  • Diners can pay through a mobile QR-code system.

Being impressed that they have almost 2 decades old technology is kind of telling of how bad it is. Smartphones today can be had as low as $50! Not really a sign of wealth or progress to have 20 year old technology that has now become dirt cheap.
I also bet the reason for the popularity of smartphones is that the infrastructure building a wireless network is way way cheaper today than to build an old fashioned wired phone network that everybody can access.

Last year, North Korea built 10,000 new homes in Pyongyang—more than either Los Angeles or Chicago.

Being impressed that the regime builds a crazy amount of housing in the capital city is probably based on ignorance.
For instance Romania did the same under Nicolae Ceaușescu, and then forced people to move to that.
This is probably simply prestige projects by the regime, to try to force a development that makes the country appear more modern, without having the actual economic development necessary for the change in infrastructure. At least that’s what it usually is when dictators make these kinds of projects. People are merely moved from poverty in one place to poverty in another place.

North Korea didn’t turn around its economy by itself. The Kim regime fortified its energy supply and access to construction materials by sending munitions and more than 15,000 troops to the Russian front lines in the Ukraine war.

    And

Many of Kim’s army of cyber thieves live in China, where they can more freely connect to the internet and operate without fear of arrest by outside authorities.

So the 2 main sources of income for North Korea are based on crimes and one of them is even only temporary.
This is not a success story, as there is nothing sustainable in this so called impressive economic development.

Outside the capital city, North Korea remains poor, with nearly half of its 26 million residents malnourished,

That’s strange, if they can go to a diner, and use a smartphone to pay through a QR code system. /s
The truth is that North Korea remains extremely poor, but the regime continues with prestige projects that mostly benefit the rich in North Korea. And in North Korea rich apparently means being able to afford a smartphone, and being able to eat every day.

  • It does not take very many tries to start cooking better than a restaurant.

Goddam it must be some lousy restaurants in your area.
My wife cooks really good food, and I love her food. But a proper restaurant with a proper chef, they are better than good, they are professionals and also professionals at picking fresh produce and good cuts to use.

But I agree, it’s pretty easy to learn to cook a decent meal.

And the best part is you can make sure that only your favorite ingredients get in there.

It also means the food will have less variation. To appreciate good cooking properly, you need variation.

  • I think worth less should be worthless, then comparing it to the IPO target isn’t really necessary.
Joke aside, it’s impressive if it’s actually worth half what the price target is set at. Considering the actually realistic value of Tesla is less than a tenth the stock value.

My guess is that SpaceX is also closer to a tenth.
And X is literally financially worthless, it worth to Musk and friends is just as a propaganda outlet for Nazis.

By more realistic values, Musk isn’t anywhere near the richest man in the world. It’s just that his assets are pumped up sky high based on lies and false promises.

  • Remember how long Facebook worked on the Metaverse? And even changed their name to Meta because Zuckerberg was convinced he was on to something. Now many years and billions upon billions of dollars later the project is finally shelved as a total failure.

Also remember Tesla/Musk has kept promising true FSD next year for a decade, and they are barely closer today than they were a decade ago. Yet they keep investing loads of money on it, and promising that very soon now, it will be available for all Tesla cars.

Remember when Microsoft launched the Xbox, and stated they were ready to lose billions on it for 10 years if they had to. That one succeeded, but later when they tried the same with Smartphones and bought Nokia they didn’t.

You are clearly underestimating how many billions the trillion dollar companies are ready to lose on this. in the pursuit of coming out on top. That’s how it is with AI too, the companies that spend the most on AI are companies that have loads and loads of money. And they can easily continue this shit for a decade without running out of money, and they will because they are determined and can afford it.

The bubble may burst, but it will probably mostly affect all the small players, and maybe dent the stock prices of the big players a little. But don’t count on it to be over in just a couple of years.

Hopefully it will, but my guess is it won’t. My guess is that none of the biggest players will relent for at least 5 years. But when the bubble burst, it could be even bigger than when the .com bubble did.

    We live in interesting times.

  • Oh boy, one of Apples products outsold other Apple products, what are the odds. 😱
Quick, clear the front page for this sensational news. 🤡
This is really hard core technology new for you right here! 🙄

Sorry for the sarcasm, I just don’t think one Apple laptop selling more than another Apple laptop is interesting in any way.
Especially considering how predictable it is, since it’s their cheapest laptop at almost half the price of the cheapest MacBook Air‌.
