I don’t think that happens but it wouldn’t harm you. You could ask the mods of your server, though, right? It’s not a stupid question at all.

Here when there is a big line like that, usually they will temporarily rent more licenses. So it will say 38th in like for one of 8 copies, not just 38th. If it’s a popular new book they do that. I read mostly sci fi and fantasy, occasionally smut, it’s been solid for those categories. Have found many enjoyable reads and those sorts of books are great to read on the device. Stories. Informational/resource books less so, for me it is easier to go back & forth with a paper book.
ETA I don’t know why someone would down vote you for sharing your experience, that’s silly.
I don’t personally think splitting a small audience makes sense, but if there is some reason you don’t like the existing group, that is different. Not sure why it would be unsafe, what are your concerns?
Books, though? If I had to buy every book I’ve read, I would be destitute and need a hundred storage units. Even with a converted effort not to buy books I have a whole shelf of them.
Where are you? My wait here (mid size city in Florida) is usually 0-3weeks, unless they don’t have it at all, then I request and it can be 6 weeks to infinity. But they will send hard copy books around between libraries not even in our county, and the electronic collection is huge too.
Not to excuse the relentless flow of money upward, but the two times we had to do (temporary) pay cuts in my career, it was 10-15% for employees, paid back eventually, and 35-50% for executives, not repaid. At two different companies. So I do know at least sometimes it’s done that way.
I can’t see well through those 3D glasses. Not headache they just don’t work right; I have a lot of trouble with binoculars as well, was profoundly nearsighted so maybe that’s a factor. It’s fine, except for the bits of action movies that seem to have been filmed for 3d and look strange in the 2d version.
I do have depth perception in real life just not through those glasses, though I haven’t tried in the last few years.
You write so well, hope you can find your way to a better time, and NOBODY is obligated to have children, full stop. No matter why they don’t want them. Not even the person who might birth the person who saves the world. Nobody. You don’t need an “acceptable” reason or to explain yourself to anyone. It’s your life.
I have restored our relationship by very obviously showing them white cheddar cheese puffs, eating one, and leaving them three of them, twice; then leaving cat food once. They are nice now. (Meaning of they are in my yard I can go to the mailbox and they just chill). When I see them I do bring them something but am not home much lately.
But really, if you are gonna cuss me out, what do you expect?
Last week I was out in front and heard an exchange so nice - one yells “caw caw” then the other “cawcawcawcaw” over and over until finally MR. Caw Caw says “caw caw, cawcawcawcaw” and they both stopped. It made me laugh.
Yeah I have a “sad” list for when I need to cry. These and Sweet Old World by Lucinda Williams and Road by Nick Drake, because he didn’t find a road to take him home, and the stories about how he was so depressed he’d go into the studio and lay flat on the floor to record the songs.
John Prine also has that Sam Stone song, that is less poignant and more aggressively sad but so real sounding too.
Red Dirt Girl, Emmylou Harris
“He told her - little sister, gonna ride the wind, up around the moon and back again. Well, he never got farther than Vietnam, I was standing there with her when the telegram come for Lillian.”
And “nobody tells you 'bout the blues when you got 'em, you just keep falling cause there ain’t no bottom, there ain’t no end, least not for Lillian.”
AND
“Nobody knows when she started her skid, she was only 27 and she had 5 kids. Might have been the whiskey, might have been the pills, might have been the dream she was trying to kill.”
Such a tearjerker, a very cathartic song when you need to cry. Boulder to Birmingham too.
I don’t think it’s immoral, and I also don’t think it’s immoral to have the child. It’s more complicated than “disability” or “ability”, if you can handle the job and give that kid the best life they could have had, short or long, love them and see it through, that is not immoral. If you know you cannot, and it would wreck your life or be very detrimental to your already born kids, it’s certainly not immoral to abort the fetus and focus on what you can do.
OMG I did this with a crow recently. Am a pretty good mimic, crow was across the street, he looks over and caws, I repeat it, he gets huffy and flies away. Well, don’t dish it if you can’t take it!
Yeah, I think you are on the right track with sleep apnea then. Which can be life threatening, so not shocking your mind might be alarmed. This might be a question for a doctor.
You know you are in a nightmare, as in you become lucid? I would thank my nightmare for letting me know I am dreaming. Not try to wake up. Try to make friends with it, to defuse the terror. That knowledge that it’s a dream is valuable. Have done this several times myself, but my nightmares aren’t necessarily about terrifying situations, it’s more like the fear comes first then my mind sort of builds around it. So everyday things can be terrifying in nightmares but in regular dreams I could be in objectively terrifying situations and not care, and particularly in lucid dreams that is true.
Best of luck to you, may you have calm and restful sleep.
Selling yourself is not an easy job. If you can, then sure, go for it. But for each person making thousands there are thousands of people making pennies.
I am omnivorous, and you can pull my cabbage from my cold dead hands, that vegetable is so delicious. Raw in coleslaw? Good. Stir fry al dente? Good. Braised till tender? Good. Burned in the iron skillet then topped with flavored oil and sesame seeds and seaweed? So good. It is so versatile and so delicious.
Huh. It’s never occurred to me to put cream in carbonara, always just thinking of it as the bacon and eggs pasta, don’t think I’d like it literally creamy; but I will put a pat of butter in cacio e pepe, to help it emulsify, and was just reading about how that is some sort of heresy too.
At least he doesn’t say it out loud.
