Same. Art is in the eye of the beholder. I for example find Pollock just shit but there are those that pay actual money to see what a baby elephant could’ve made. All that modern art is talentless shit to me. But there are people out there who will vehemently defend it. There people out there who will pay money to go to a talentless art museum and come out feeling smug that they could recognise a piece made by some person who just had the luck to know the right people.

We all have our opinions about art, but they are just that, opinions. People will continue to throw shit at a wall or use period blood to drip onto a canvas and attach some grand message to it in order to call it art, and people will just generate a prompt and paste it into an AI art generator then share whatever looks pleasing to them.

And if you pay for a subscription, you don’t have to do the orphan launching yourself! Just lean back on your yacht with a tequila and watch the orphan get ballista’d out of the atmosphere. It’s a steal!

Nothing is being taken away. You and your countries have the biggest chance at actually making things better! Rising living standards doesn’t mean “copy the West and all its mistakes”. Don’t look at the West as if they have it all figured out.

You could have walkable, green cities and towns, with amazing public transport! It costs less than forcing everybody to have a car, keeps more people healthy as there will be less pollution of all kinds (noise, particles, chemical, industrial, …), and makes for much happier citizens.

You could invest in green technologies like solar, wind, hydrogen, heat exchangers, etc. It will mean cheaper bills for everything (transport, heating, cooling, appliances, …) and much less dependence on foreign companies (once things are set up). No more oil and gas imports would be amazing for your country’s autonomy.

Going green doesn’t mean worse living standards, it means exactly the opposite. You could leapfrog the West and raise the living standards for millions of your countrymen and countrywomen.

And they’ll put more of us on the planet too, because it’s so wonderful here.

If the wealth tax were introduced and the income tax removed (or the lower bracket increase to something like 100k), that would create a lot of air.

Setting the wealth tax low enough (say 10M) would include not only the ultra-wealth but the very wealth too. It can also start progressively. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

If things were that easy, there would’ve been a revolution already. Taxing wealth a step in the right direction. Also, revolutions don’t always turn out well. Just look at the Arab spring.

We really need to tax the wealth of rich fucks and force them to sell their assets to commoners like us. We need to start owning stuff again.

Their pension has never been worth less. So far.

Anybody who believes people will have a livable pension in 20+ years is kidding themselves.
