But you just said that’s not a problem…

But you just said that’s not a problem…

How are they going to push ads?

Apparently there are a handful. Notably Mosseri.

That’s the thing, though, you can’t just quote-unquote “scrape activity pub.”
Then what’s the problem?

It doesn’t. They don’t need to scrape the entire internet, just ActivityPub.

I’m not part of the fediverse to still have to maintain 20 accounts.
You don’t have to. You can migrate your same account to another instance.

I came to get away from the main stream socials.
You came to the wrong place. This was always the goal.

is that by defederating you are saying no and not giving consent
It’s okay, I just post I DO NOT CONSENT on Facebook periodically and then a magic elf pops up and wags his finger at Zuck.

Like that’s a fucking valid argument.
It’s not. Which is why it’s so ridiculous that OP is making it.

AP does not allow for the pushing of ads.

What data is Facebook “hoovering up” through federation that they don’t already have access to?
I have asked this question a dozen times and no one can ever give me a legitimate answer.

That doesn’t answer my question.

What kind of “tasty data collection and surveillance” will Meta have access to that they didn’t before federating?

Kinda seems like “canceled bonus” should have been in the headline…

it’s withholding money until you dance their little dance
Okay so if they don’t exercise, it’s deducted from the compensation they’ve earned? I must have misunderstood.

Leave it up to Lemmy users to paint paying employees to be healthy as a bad thing…

Interesting, my understanding is that they should appear on PeerTube but maybe they have disabled that.

like i’ve seen mastodon users’ comments here
You simply follow the Lemmy community (displayed as “groups”) on Mastodon.
and lemming comments on peertube
Just follow the PeerTube channels (displayed as “communities”) on Lemmy. As seen in the OP.

am still figuring out how i get on the other platforms from here
Not sure what you mean by that. You can’t log into a Mastodon server with a Lemmy account. And I don’t think you can follow a Mastodon user from Lemmy. They’re just designed to be separate, for good reason.
Write better please.
