It’s part of Wicked. No clue if it’s in the Oz books
The scarecrow in the universe of The Wizard of Oz was transformed into a scarecrow by Elphaba to protect him from being brutalized by the Munchkin guard. He was “human” (or whatever the Oz equivalent is) before that.
Specifically. No idea how Gboard did that considering it swiped “specially” and I went back and tapped the suggestion that said “specifically”
Wicked lore says the scarecrow is a scarecrow basically scprfically so he doesn’t bleed

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•London knife crime vs viral content about London crimeEnglish
25·2 months agoWell someone has to bring the crime back up
I don’t think this comic is suggesting anyone declaw or dump their cat in the tub. I’m pretty sure it’s just a setup to have a cat draw a knife.
These lines don’t match the song at all smh
Judging by how many empty emails I get where the subject line is the name of one of my apps, I’m pretty sure people just absently click contact links, panic/don’t care, and then click send instead of discard/cancel.
Do birds have bile?
Without knowing the context of what’s happening in Venezuela I’d probably think that’s a radio/cell tower without the label and wonder what the army has to do with 5G in South America
Why have two brand new accounts posted this today?
They asked this on my learner’s permit application for a car. Is there anywhere it’s specific to motorcycle licenses?

31·4 months agoThis is why I have a bunch of Nest Hubs. Right now they’re cycling through pet photos and it’s nice to look at them randomly and be like “oh yeah I remember that”.
The hubs are also nice sometimes for googling things and having my data stolen I guess, but mostly the photos

13·5 months agoI don’t agree with the extreme here, but it does take more effort to read it, because it’s not a common character. It’s the same way I know cursive, but it still takes more effort to read because it’s not commonly used.

141·5 months agoThose conjugations are correct.
“don’t” applies to the plural subject of “words”. “hasn’t” applies to the singular subject of “letter”. “you’re” is using the general “you” in English that replaces the archaic/formal “one”. “doesn’t” applies to the singular concept of being or not being bilingual.
It might help to read the first sentence like:
Op is one of those people who find it easier to read when words are spelled correctly and don’t shoehorn in a [throwback letter that hasn’t been used in English for centuries].

The words are fully synonymous in American English, and Australian possums are named after American possums.
