No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there any reason we were taught in school that blood is blue in the body until it reaches oxygen and then it turns red other than our veins look blue?English
13·1 month agoEveryone here slamming you for asking, but I’m just now learning from this thread that that’s not true.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Been looking into getting an "Indexed Universal Life" insurance policy. Are these trust worthy?English
10·8 months agoGrab a broad-market index fund with the lowest fees (e.g., VTSAX), set regular purchases, and move on with your life. Avoid insurance products that claim to be investments. Avoid anything with higher-than-minimum fees or load fees.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do i tip my bartender $2 per drink and per bar food order but 20% when I order food from a waitress? Am I tipping wrong?English
3·8 months agoI think 1-2$ per drink is the recommendation because it’s easier to remember than doing the math, and you’re more likely to drop the cash and go rather than interacting with a busy bartender more. That said, if they’re doing full service for you (food, checking in on you), you should probably tip normally, because they’re acting as a server in that case.
