    I see some folks saying sarcastic stuff about this, which is valid certainly.

    For me a grounding statement like this can help remind me that I don’t need to be guilty about something stupid I did decades ago. Or help me refocus on the present when I am in an anxiety spiral.

    Of course anxiety can change the future. That’s why it exists. It can be a selective advantage. Prey animals are super anxious for a reason.

      Fully agree.

      And guilt - if in appropriate measure - can protect from repeating mistakes. Excessive or misplacedd guilt is another matter, of course.

      It certainly changed my future to one that involved much more laying in the fetal position on the floor than I’d have otherwise experienced.
