Meh. Every culture has a variation of “stuff stuffed in dough”. Pierogi are just ravioli which are just samosas.

And Russian (баре́ники), and Ukrainian, and probably many other cultures make these. They’re a leftover of the Mongol conquest of Eastern Europe.
