They made an IP, a minor share holder used company funds to buy majority states in said company, then forced the guys who made the game out of the company. I’m not able to do investigative journalism in a comment, but there is still an ongoing legal case on this

That’s a bit of a different presentation than “stole” just saying.
It was initially an artist-owned company, which had a hostile takeover against the wishes of said artists
Not sure how you’d define it as anything other than stole
Because it sounds like they were employees not IP owners
