Rumor has it that Jim Davis has many uncredited “assistants” that help produce the daily strips these days. My guess is at the very least they pitch jokes to use in the strips, which might lead to the kind of “writers’ room” mediocrity that we see in modern Garfield. But I’m probably overthinking it.
