I imagine this post will mostly get eyerolls, but if it eventually reaches just one goofball like me that didn’t figure this out on their own, I think it’s a net positive. For the first couple of years after I started using a hand-grinder I dreaded the early morning pre-caffeinated task of loading beans from my dosing tray into my grinder. If I wasn’t super cautious about the alignment and pour speed, I’d end up with beans scattering onto the countertop or floor.

I love combining 3d printing and coffee, so I finally started searching for stls of funnels that would fit my specific grinder. There definitely are some, but I noted in the comments of one a criticism asking why the developer of the stl wasn’t just cupping his hand around the top of the grinder? The next morning I tried doing just that and it worked beautifully. It was so simple and now seems so incredibly obvious to the point where I feel a little silly even talking about this.

I’ve shown previously how the Z1 fits nicely over the K-ultra grinder, and if you use it as a dosing cup you can flip it right into the grinder. Grinder receptacles will often work like this too, but you don’t want to be pouring any residual grinds back in the grinder. Anyway, if you’re still spilling beans like I was – try this, it works for all grinders, it’s easy, and here are some pics demonstrating the simple technique.

I experienced a similar type of realization when i realized i should be pouring the beans into a cup instead of straight in the grinder haha, i used to make such a mess every morning

        Just paranoia

Not really paranoia, when it’s true. I worked with a team at school (years ago, well before LLMs), and we devoped a POC to take a picture of a fingerprint and produce a laser etching. This was all for a scifi film we were shooting in film class lol. It wasn’t 100%, but it was also with nearly no budget and whatever free tech the uni had. If we were able to do it then, you can bet “they” can do it now, and with much higher success rates. So, yeah… not paranoia.

Also obscures your skin colour. I appreciate you posting and contributing in spite of your paranoia ☕

Allergies from coffee on the skin, but then he drinks it?

I mean, I know weed can be irritating for my skin and I’m not allergic, when I smoke it.
Does this also happen to coffee when it’s brewed?

No some people have contact allergies with certain metals for example. We can’t know but there is no reason to judge for it.

Didn’t judge, was just interested if some allergens maybe don’t make into the final product or are getting destroyed in the process

Was just the first time I’ve heard it with coffee

But haven’t thought about metals. That must suck

Works with electric coffee/spice mills too, even though they tend to be a little bigger in diameter.

I don’t use my aeropress anymore, I’m more into espresso. Except for the funnel. The Aeropress funnel is one of my most used kitchen utensils, filling up the pepper grinder, putting cooked food into glass jars, coffe beans… a large diameter funnel is so useful.

The bean measure cup that came with my flair perfectly fits my grinder, so can just measure beans out by eye , spray and put grinder upside down on it and flip

Huh? That’s what I’ve been using, but the funnel from mine doesn’t fit into the 1Z at all (at least not the k-ultra), it just sort of manages to be flush with it when I sit it on top of the grinder. That already lead to two cases of me accidentally bumping it and having coffee beans spill all over.

I should just get a dosing cup with a tapered/funnel end.

Or just do as the OP suggests with the picture. This is really not a problem.

Maybe if you do it twenty times a day?
