Sometimes F-Droid versions are missing stuff because they’re done by proprietary means on the Play Store versions. Push-notifications for example might be missing.

Sometimes you get more stuff. Play Store version of OsmAnd+ is paid while on F-Droid it’s free.

I was trying to find a solution to have all the news sources I care about in a single app. Then I remembered RSS and was able to do that very easily. I use self-hosted Miniflux and just use that as pwa when on my phone. Ridoculously lightweight and very awesome. I also setup Readeck (a Pocket alternative) where I push longer articles for when I’m up for reading more instead of just checking the latest news. I love it

Family, friends and most people in general I know use WhatsApp. It’s very very popular in some places.

I mean I love the passion and I love Signal too but I’m not going to stop messaging my family and friends over their decision to use WhatsApp. Can’t get everyone to switch.

And if they had interoperability towards WhatsApp and had their own stuff too those not using it wouldn’t have to have anything to do with WhatsApp

You’d have better privacy when talking Signal to Signal. Interoperability would be towards those using WhatsApp and then it’d be either using Signal to chat with them or being forced to use WhatsApp’s app.

I’m assuming they’d have two different ways to communicate instead of just switching it all to WhatsApp’s system.

The benefit would be the ability to chat with those refusing to move away from WhatsApp without having to use the Whats App. I get why they aren’t going for it, but I guess it could be handy.

I’m already hearing about restrictions on exporting passkeys and some apps requiring that you’re not running a custom ROM on Android and stuff like that. Makes me worried they’re going to fuck that up and make it restrictive bs

The new union treaty should have been stopped based on the results of the referendum, which overwhelmingly supported the maintaining of the current federal system.

People voted for the treaty in the referendum, hardline communists stopped the signing because they didn’t like it.

It died because after a referendum for its dissolution failed, there was a power struggle as the communists tried to prevent Yeltsin from doing it anyway, and Yeltsin ended up ordering tanks to fire on the parliament building until the communist pro-democracy forces surrendered.

I thought it was a hardliner coup that tried to stop implementation of the New Union Treaty that people voted for. Funny that they wanted to prevent the decentralization and ended up causing a total decentralization by way of making even this new union unpalatable.

Soviet Union had a single referendum and it immediately caused a coup and destruction of the whole Union. No wonder they didn’t want to have them before lel

Didn’t it die because everyone including Russia wanted out? Closest to the will of the people for keeping it they got was having the only referendum they ever had be about if USSR should be basically replaced with some other form of union. Which is not great.
