  • It’s a lighting technique that creates more realistic visuals, especially reflections.

The technique allows the GPU to “track” / calculate how the light should actually travel and what it bounces off of (like light in real life), compared to the pre-calculated methods of before.

So it will cost you processing power and therefore frames, but it greatly increases the visual accuracy of lighting, shadows and reflections.

A simple but effective example is Minecraft with Ray Tracing. The following video showcases the difference:

Notice how the game looks completely different. That’s what lighting can do for a game.

Obviously this is less noticeable when it’s a game with realistic graphics and a lot of time spent on getting the (prebaked) lighting just right.

  • If it’s related to the thread you posted then try Nightly?

That’s only in Nightly right now, unfortunately; it won’t make it out to Release until v134.

Also, can I ask why you’d leave your browser open for weeks? Just curious of the use case. The thread mentions having 5700-7000 open tabs, and I can’t fathom why someone would do that. It’s not like the websites disappear if you close the tab. Nothing to do with the problem though, you don’t have to answer.

  • You can get comn banned for telling someone to go fuck themselves yet the characters in the game can swear all they want.

While in-game characters might swear, it’s typically in scripted scenarios that aren’t directed at people, let alone real people. Trash talking teammates is a whole different can of “swearing”.

I’ve been comm banned for telling someone to kill themselves because they said they were gonna rape my daughter and after I reported them for it “this activity doesn’t go against our ToS” was the response.

Telling someone to kill themselves crosses a boundary. I mean, so did their comment, but you should have left it at the report instead of trying to go eye for eye. Usually they troll and bait you into saying things that you can get banned for.

If the game is rated m for mature then mature content should be allowed.

Maturity in ratings refers to the content of the game. A mature label isn’t a green light for abusive behaviour, but a warning about the content.

That being said, I do agree that bans can be misjudged / unfair when put into perspective.
