I interpreted “middle of the road” as doing nothing special, just normal tasks done a normal way and therefore hoping everything just works so you can focus on work

You don’t get to decide what people can and cannot discuss. And if someone replying was transphobic then maybe responding calmly and rationally would help change their mind. Just calling people transphobes does more to turn people away from your cause than just not replying
Take a note on how the other user responded to my question. You instead responded with hostility, good luck convincing anyone if that’s how you engage with a genuine attempt to discuss the topic

Plenty of places have bunkers, for civilians to hide in during air raids or missile attacks. Switzerland and Finland have bunkers everywhere. That’s not the same as a command and control military installation

People trying to help and making the situation worse does not help, at all. Putting soothing your own feelings above the pragmatic requirements to solve the situation does not help
