Similarly, why not put your journals into a lockbox? Very old school, but exactly what your grandparents did with their checkbooks and ledgers for the same reason.

It’s a cool idea, I will look into roasting some of my own.
I’m not trying to be a hater, but nearly all of the decaf there is using Swiss water process, which I’ve never had a good cup of. I do see one EA decaf, but it’s Columbia and I think I’ve drank enough decaf Columbia to last me a few lifetimes.
This isn’t “name and shame”, but more a general complaint. And that is “specialty decaf”.
Due to a heart condition, all I can drink these days is decaf.
And the predominant bean for this, due to the economies of scale, is the same bland Swiss water decaf Columbia used by roasters from Starbucks to many many specialty coffee roasters. And the result is the bland, ashy, muddy decaf we all lothe.
Thankfully, some specialty roasters have started switching away from the awful water process to EA and CO2, though still mostly using the same tired Columbia strains.
Of the two newer decaffination methods, EA is significantly better at keeping the flavors faithful to the original bean (tested with several blind tastings), but roasters still tend to roast the results to medium / medium dark to bow to the greater market, which is really a shame.
There are a handful of roasters that have been attempting EA decaf at a light/medium-light roast level and the results are finally something I’d classify as “specialty decaf”, but my rotation is still only about 5 total bean/roast/roasters combos.
Hopefully the new caffine-free coffee cherry strains gets to market soon, I really really want to explore specialty coffee like I used to.
Especially because, if this is the device I think it is, it’s an ozone generator, which are even more oxidizing than the normal O2

5·4 months agoThis is correct for a given transaction, but there’s no consensus needed to open a Bitcoin wallet. That is usually just a private key in an encrypted envelope.
16·4 months agoThe Polynesian people had many ways of detecting land far beyond the horizon using ocean currents, temperatures, weather patterns, animal movements, and others which they used to island hop all the way through the Pacific Islands.
I have little doubt it was a well informed theory before they got into their vessels.
Check the plastic retaining ring inside that holds the lower burr in place. Mine broke, but they’re cheap and easy to replace.

If it’s good enough for a professional kitchen it’s more than enough for the rest of us.
Edit: This was 4 years ago and everything is still in great shape and is used constantly. The stainless is as good as any tri-ply. Vigor stainless steel and Vollrath carbon steel. Can’t go wrong at the price really.
The great seals are probably all still in place, and Gallowspire was definitely still there a few decades ago. It’s probably fine…
Annoyed or excited. Call it “stimulated”. Also often happens when they see a toy or a pounce target.
Usually with domestic cats the ears being in a relaxed ‘up’ state show this cat is annoyed but not truly unhappy. Maybe even trying to wriggle away.
Generally if you see highly dilated eyes and ears back, the cat is about to attack or pounce.
However I’ll caveat that second part with the fact that it depends on the cat. I’ve seen cats maul from a submissive/passive position with ears up and eyes nearly closed. Like humans, every cat is different and every situation is going to be unique. They’re intelligent animals with unique personalities and nature/nurture, which is why they’re such excellent companions.

This is why I like Andor and Rogue One best these days. A rebellion is a messy human affair with lots of wanton death and suffering. Trying to ground that and show the moral dilemma and the characters struggling with it instead of plastering over it with cheering teenagers makes a better show.

Same boat here, 4 years now. There’s excellent decaf beans out there finally, and it’s improving every year!
