I guess this is RPi signalling that they want to become a bigger computer company - perhaps they’re taking the Apple / Nvidia lead of “ARM is the future of consumer electronics”, and saying that they’re already a strong player in the field.

This is the selling off of RPi to the highest bidder… and the subsequent loss of control.

    I think this could result in them designing their own ARM SoCs and as a result becoming more independant of Texas Instruments.

    For historical reasons TI was the only feasible choice, but by now RPi is big enough to stand on their own and the TI dependency is IMHO holding them back.
