There’s lots of valid ways to argue in favor of Veganism. Dismissing detractors as uninformed is not one of them.
Especially when that point can be completely destroyed with one word. Bacon.
I don’t need to argue that it’s healthier, it’s not. I don’t need to argue against any alternatives, there are none worthy of the name. If I have to I could point out that for every recipe with an alternative version that includes bacon, the bacon version is more popular. So empirically, bacon makes everything better, and there is no substitute that beats it.
If you’re going to make an argument for veganism, do it from a basis of facts. It’s healthier, better for you, better for the planet, and it’s most likely better for your local economy as well. And then you throw on top that it stops the unethical treatment of living creatures.
That’s not what veganism is. You’re talking about something else. Veganism is a moral philosophy regarding the treatment of non-human animals. It has nothing to do with human health, with managing the planetary ecology, or anything other than not exploiting and abusing vulnerable non-human individuals. If you want to go promote plant based diets for human health, there is already a huge community doing exactly that. That’s not what veganism is.
