I think the book had some more obscure Japanese stuff, especially the mecha. Like instead of the main character using the Delorian in the movie in the book he uses Leopardman the giant Mecha from the Japanese Spider-Man tv show that turns into a ship called the Marveller. Also the last fight was way better in the book as the sixers use various Evangelion units which would have been absolutely brutal on screen. the good guys use various old Japanese Mecha like Mazinger Z, Tenzor, the RX-78 like in the film, and some other stuff. I think even Voltron at one point too if I remember correctly. Voltron would have been WAY better in the movie especially if they used the theme.
