You continue to miss the fact that I’m not dogmatic about the US being unequivocally “good”.

I’m fully aware of the very fucked up history that the US has (and more than a few of our allies have) in the context of sketchy colonialist/imperialist stuff. My country’s actions in Latin America over the course of the First Cold War - not to mention after its conclusion - are imo largely indefensible.

But if you think the USSR (or now, Russia) was unequivocally “good”, you are high on your own supply.

And not to mention: non-authoritarian communist and socialist systems can and do exist. They are distinct from authoritarian communist systems, primarily in the fact that the “authoritarian” part is far more important and impactful than the “communist” part. You’re also trying to pidgeonhole things into a dichotomy, when in fact the reality is far more nuanced.

There is no bigger false dichotomy than “authoritarian” vs “non-authoritarian”
