I installed Mint on a friend’s computer and he asked if there was something similar to Quickbooks. I have never thought about it so I don’t know what to recommend.

I cannot compare them because I have never used QB, but GnuCash is considered THE Linux accounting software of reference.
Try either GNUCash or Kmymoney

You might be able to just run the Windows version of Quickbooks using Wine
