China's crackdown on underground churches intensifies with new arrests

Leaders of Early Rain Covenant Church have been arrested and Yayang Church is being torn down, groups say.

An influential Protestant church in China says prominent leaders were arrested in what appears to be a growing crackdown on the underground church movement.

Nine people were detained on Tuesday after police raided their homes and the church office in Chengdu, the Early Rain Covenant Church said. Five of them had been released by Wednesday.

    Great news for Christianity in China (and terrible news for Christians), Christianity thrives in conditions where its practitioners are actively being oppressed. It’s almost like it’s their fantasy kink.

      You can be against religion but also unhappy that a government is arresting people apparently for only practicing a religion.
