Why are plant-based hot dogs so bad and yet plant-based sausages so good?
Ok, I’m confused. A hot dog is just a sausage in a bun, no?
If you mean that vegan wieners/frankfurters are bad, than that’s the opposite of my experience. I enjoy them more than I do other types of vegan sausage (although that may have something to do with growing up in a post-soviet country and thus being constantly exposed to Doctorskaya sausage)
That’s a sausage in a bun. I guess this is a language thing?
Doctorskaya sausage looks like it’s basically diet bologna? Sausage can be something much smaller, like a bratwurst.
And a bratwurst does not become a hot dog because it’s in a bun.
Same reason meat based hotdogs are inferior to meat based sausage. Sausage is king.
it’s endlessly annoying to me how the plant processed foods are zero fat high sugar when the fat really needs to be there to address texture problems
there is a wide variety in the scale of enjoyability of vegan hotdogs in my experience, from “wait, is this made of chalk?” to “wait, did i really get the vegan ones?”
I might just not like hotdogs, now that I think about it.
