What? You think that statement was a negative towards Ukraine?
Mocking the news outlets for making the cutoff seem like they were violating the TOS by using Starlink for drone strikes. But Musk just charges more for that, a lot more. Because you can charge a military almost anything for the same product.
I don’t understand your reaction, all the guy was saying was if Ukraine wants to stream Murder Drones, the hit Australian indie animated web series, then they need to pay Elon more for it. What’s so controversial about that?
You know what’s funny, that’s likely exactly why I plucked that phrase out of my head and now people who know nothing about me are losing their minds over it.
When I first read the original comment again the thread was lovely empty and very new, I didn’t read it as a negative one, but rather as satire. (Obviously, I have no idea what the original author meant. But it looks like it was meant as satire.)
You do understand that it makes Starlink very hard to differentiate from a military system. Starlink has stockholders and a board and Musk is still beholdant to them. What if Russia starts downing the satelites? What then?
btw Starlink has an actual military side. It’s called a “starshield” that is the “murderdrone plan” while starlink is the civilian side with speed limits on recievers and all that. We can’t know what Ukraine really is using or was using and people are discussing that when people in Ukraine and Nato say starlink for Ukraine they mean starshield.
If Starlink wasn’t run by a fascist supremacist corporate dickhead, they’d offer their plan for fucking free, to show their support towards Ukraine. That was the whole fucking point. This was going on right when the US and Europe were offering military and weapons aid.
Instead, Elon Musk took one look at Rule of Acquisition #34 and ran with it. He used it as a PR stunt, and took it away to ask for more money.
If Starlink wasn’t run by a fascist… they’d offer their plan for fucking free.
This is capitalism, and SpaceX (aka Starlink) is a publicly traded corporation. It doesn’t matter who is in charge of SpaceX, the CEO will be required to operate in the best interests of the shareholders. Ukraine is not one of those shareholders. Therefore, per your own statement, the CEO of SpaceX will always be a fascist since they’ll prioritize profit over the Ukrainian people.
Tankie much?

You are simultaneously mocking the free press while also mocking the hardships of people in Ukraine.
When the way you talk is identical to how tankies talk, people are going to call you a tankie.
You called them “murder drones”, like you disapproved of Ukraine using drone warfare in their fight to defend themselves. That’s tankie behavior.

We have eyes and the capability of reading. It very obviously was that.
Disagree. Defensive or offensive, you’re still killing people. It’s war.
It’s most likely a neutral statement.
“Murder” (1 : the crime of unlawfully and unjustifiably killing a person) is not at all a neutral word.
Oh God, it’s this thing again. People really read like this these days.
Read more than one word at a time.

inb4: “fucking tankie”

This is kinda the point “The Tankies” are making.
I fail to see your point. Starshield uses the same satellites.
Yeah, stockholders that had no problems with Ukraine using it until turncoat Trump made a deal with Russia. Only then suddenly they have qualms.
They have qualms when their capital and profits are threatened.
You do know if any country attacks a satelite there will be a flock of countries going to war for a treaty violation? Civilian or not.
You mean west will write strongly worded protest and give more weapons to Ukraine? yeah.
