Interesting. I wonder if it can connect to the Signal servers, given that Signal shut down LibreSignal. I doubt it, but I could be surprised.
I also wonder if you can only chat with other users who have Axolotl, unlike XMPP or Matrix, which lets you speak to anyone who uses whichever client they have as long as they use those protocols.

I have not used it, but my understanding is that it does connect to the normal Signal servers and allows texting to other users on the official Signal app.
I guess it is still too obscure for the Signal Foundation to care ;)
Edit: it is not a fork at all but a independent implementation.
I’m awed. And yeah, I’d guess something similar: too obscure for Signal to quash it.
