Slovenia officially requested Israel’s exclusion from the Eurovision 2025 song competition, according to Israeli media on Saturday.
Slovenia requested that Israel be excluded because of its ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023.
I don’t understand why they are still hosting Eurovision? Perfection was already achieved by Windows95Man with “No Rules”
Based Slovenia.
I mean, regardless of your opinion on the current genocide, Israel is definitely, objectively, not in Europe.
Neither is Australia.
The Eurovision is not called that because only European countries can compete, but because it was created by the European Broadcasting Agency to showcase their new network standards that let you broadcast across Europe way back when.
That said, Israel should be excluded if for the genocide, for last year’s harassment of other competitors.
Apparently being a European settler colony is good enough to participate lol. Maybe America can join in too.
Nah, I’ve heard Eurovision is generally a good, well-liked thing, no reason to let us ruin that.
The Aussies earned the right to be included by simply being wholesome around the event.
Israelites at the event bullied their biggest competition into a bad mistake resulting in the most european song getting cancelled.
And while i don’t think the singer deserves personal backlash the fact that they dubbed it for tv to cencor the yelling of the audience sets a real bad precedent.
On another note “sponsored by marrocanoil” felt disgusting to read every time it came up.
Huh, TIL
Slovenia’s request will be rejected, and Slovenia will in turn announce that it is boycotting Eurovision. Ireland, Spain and other countries will follow swiftly. The end result will be Israel winning Eurovision by default, due to there being only three contestants, and the UK and Germany owning the bottom of the board.
It’s weird that a Middle Eastern country would be included in a European competition anyway.
Well they bankroll the thing.
Eurovision head sponsor is MoroccanOil. which is not Moroccan but Israeli.
