Warsaw is already spending big on defense. Now it needs the manpower.

Poland has been sounding the alarm while the rest of the EU sat on its hands for years. Suppose that’s easy to do when the threat isn’t literally on your doorstep.

History repeats itself, poland was sounding the alarm in 1939 but the allies made them stand down. I doubt they make that mistake again

They’ve been ramping up acquisition and production as much as they reasonably can the last few years. The rest of us should really follow their example. Luckily the production is increasing all over Europe, though it should have begun much much sooner than this. The hard part going forward is manpower (as stated in the article), and all the command structures needing to be rebuilt without the US. And, over time removing the dependence on America for air defence, both planes and land-based missile defences. Fully local drone production is also going to be a game changer, as we have seen the importance of drones in Ukraine.

Let‘s not try to rewrite history here by pretending Poland and Hungry weren‘t best buddies in their jointventure to erode democracy in the EU a few years ago.

In a country where people don’t make babies - where do we get soldiers?

People of military age didn’t even go through compulsory training because it was abolished 20 years ago. Is this the backbone of this army?

Why are we buying all of this expensive stuff when in positional warfare in Ukraine drones account for 75% of soldiers killed / wounded?

How is this army supposed to get any kind of real experience if this government says no boots on the ground in Ukraine?

Raise the level of social security and stop the massing up of wealth in the billionaire class. People who fell secure about their future will make more babies.
